Outdoor fitness spaces can add another reason to visit a park, whether you’re stopping along a walking route or meeting a friend for a workout.

Minnesota parks and recreation professionals are heading to Duluth next week!
The MRPA Annual Conference takes place October 20–23 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

It’s an opportunity to exchange ideas and think about what’s next for community spaces. What topic are you most interested in this year: inclusive play, park improvements, programming or maintenance?

Our team will be there talking about ACRE, Whole Trees and nature play.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Brett Olson!

As a Construction Manager at MWP Recreation, Brett helps take our projects from plans on paper to completed recreation spaces that kids, families, and communities can enjoy.

His role includes coordinating crews, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and other project partners while keeping installations safe, efficient, and on schedule. Because construction always comes with a few curveballs, Brett also spends plenty of time problem-solving and adapting when unexpected challenges arise.

A project he is especially proud of is Heart of the Lake Elementary, where an existing playground was combined with a new playground and poured-in-place safety surfacing to create one seamless space.

For Brett, the best part is seeing a completed playground being enjoyed by the people it was built for. As he puts it, “We create places where people can play, gather, and make memories.”

When he isn’t managing projects, Brett enjoys fishing, mountain biking, golfing, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
