This Weekend in Golden is going full on fall-mode. 🍂

Saturday, October 17: “Knock Your Boots Off” Golden Beverage Tasting & Chili Cookoff
• From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Golden Beverage Tasting and Chili Cookoff is taking over Parfet Park. The festival supports the Golden Welcome Center.

Saturday, October 17: Holidaily's Gluten-Free Fall Fest
• Golden-based Holidaily Brewing Company is hosting this fall festival, featuring a flash tattoo artist, live music, food vendors, and a fall b**r release. The festival is from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at their Golden location, 801 Brickyard Circle.

Sunday, October 18: The Golden Mill's 5th Annual Howl-o-Ween
• From 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., visit The Golden Mill for their fifth annual Howl-o-Ween. Costumes (pet and human) are encouraged. Live music, adoptable dogs, and the Golden Mill's usual wonderful food options will be on site. The Golden Mill is at 1012 Ford St., Golden.

Friday, October 16 - Sunday, October 18: Stories Worth Telling Festival
• Starting Friday and running through the whole weekend, the 5th annual Stories Worth Telling Festival will feature 20 films over the three days. Films span topics focusing on outdoor culture, adventure, and human-centric documentary storytelling. Passes are available for individual filmsm also.

As the sun continues to set earlier, wildlife contacts have the potential to increase at dusk - especially on Golden's more popular mountain trails. Golden also has seen increased bear activity due to drought conditions.

This Weekend in Golden is getting into the Halloween spirit. 👻

Friday, October 9: The Talking Dead - An Immersive Ghost Tour
• Join Golden History Tours and Elevate Immersive for a step into the shadows of Golden's history. This unique pub crawl will tell the stories of 6 to 8 ghosts from Golden's past, with two stops at local pubs throughout the night. The tour is from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., starting at the Golden Mill, 1012 Ford Street, Golden.

Saturday, October 10: Stay Golden Mercantile's Grand Opening
• The grand opening of downtown Golden's new business, Stay Golden Mercantile, will be on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Stay Golden Mercantile, 1106 Washington Avenue, Golden. The grand opening will feature fun family activities like face painting and hair tinsel, as well as product giveaways and raffles.

Saturday, October 10: 'Golden's Original Chili Fest'
• Join Golden City Brewery in its 30th year supporting Golden Pantry and Thrift, through its chili cookoff. Twelve chili chefs will compete to win b**r for a year! The event kicks off at 12:00 p.m. at Golden City Brewery, 920 12th Street, Golden.

For this Outdoor Etiquette Tuesday, let's talk about the best ways to enjoy Golden's changing colors.

• Don't go off trail to take pictures or see colors. Don't hop fences, cross lines, or disobey signage. A lot of the time, it's there to protect flora and fauna.
• The trash in this photo was found on a casual stroll after a few minute walk. Even if you don't litter, someone else might. If it's safe to do so, pick up trash - yours or others.
• Don't. Pick. The. Leaves. If you want to hold one up for a photo, find one that has already fallen on the ground. Better yet, take a picture of your feet next to the leaves so you don't disturb any insects.

Visit Golden is excited to congratulate Donna Owen of the Golden Welcome Center for being named a finalist for the 2026 Jack Snow Award for Outstanding Volunteer at the Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference.

This prestigious award recognizes individuals whose dedication, leadership and lasting contributions have helped strengthen Colorado's tourism industry and inspire future generations of tourism professionals. The Golden Welcome Center is a staple of our community, helping visitors discover Golden through the eyes of a local.

Friday, October 2 - Saturday, October 3: Colorado School of Mines Homecoming 🏈
• Colorado School of Mines will be hosting their Homecoming between Friday and Saturday. Show up for CSM by attending the Fall Festival on Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Then, watch the Orediggers beat Black Hills State at Marv Kay Stadium at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. See more below!

Saturday, October 3: Golden W**e Festival
• The second annual Golden W**e Festival is from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Tony Grampsas Park, 4471 Salvia Street, Golden. A free shuttle is available! See event information for tickets and shuttle information.

Sunday, October 4: Autumn Fest!
• The Golden History Museum and Park's annual Autumn celebration is this Sunday! Come see Native American dances, frontier activities, face painting, and more for FREE from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Golden History Park, 1020 11th St, Golden.
