Golden View Classical Academy Golden View Classical Academy is a public K-12 classical, liberal arts, Hillsdale College Member School Educated citizens will seek knowledge for its own sake.

Golden View Classical Academy is a classical, liberal arts K-12 charter school in Jefferson County, Colorado, modeled after the highest performing schools in Colorado. We believe education should be about giving students the tools to pursue a life of goodness and truth, and elevate the beautiful. As a classical program our students master literacy, learn Latin, participate in Socratic seminars, study primary source documents, and examine virtue as demonstrated in good literature throughout the written history of mankind. Our program emphasizes explicit phonics, uses Singapore Math, and incorporates the arts and music as a fundamental part of education. Congratulations to the Golden View High School Cross Country Teams, who each competed at their regional meets yesterday. In their 3A debut, the Boys placed 2nd, just 3 points behind 1st place. The Girls were Regional Champions! Both teams qualified to run at the State Championships next Saturday. Way to go, Sentinels!

Thank you to everyone who joined us ​at Hiwan Golf Club on Monday for a fun day of golf, friendly competition, and supporting Golden View Classical Academy Athletics!​ Taking home first place with an impressive 22-under-par (48) were Anders Lindgren, Andy Wheaton, Adam Herm​anson, and Matt Van Gieson! Each earned a free round of golf at Hiwan Golf Club.​ ​A​nd special congratulations to ​M​rs. Sondheim for sweeping both women's competitions!

This week’s Sentinel Shout-Out goes to Mrs. Crook! You may not see her often, as she works behind the scenes in the back of the office, but her presence is invaluable to our staff!

From ensuring every class is covered when a teacher is out to spoiling our staff with incredible birthday lunches, surprise treats, and thoughtful gestures of support, Mrs. Crook goes above and beyond to make Golden View a special place to work.

This week, she teamed up with Mrs. Hardcastle for a fun surprise: “Blind Date with a Book!” They wrapped an assortment of books, each with a few hints about the story hidden beneath the wrapping. Candlelight and pizza completed the event. What a creative and thoughtful treat for our Golden View employees!

Congratulations to the Golden View High School Cross Country Teams! The Girls were Foothills League Runners Up, and senior Erin Wright was named "Girl Runner of the Year." Junior Brennan Winters led the Boys with a 2nd place individual finish, and the Boys Team were Foothills League Champions. Way to go, Sentinels!

Every week our staff members have the opportunity to recognize their colleagues for being the wonderful people they are. Last week our beloved Ms. Steele received several shout-outs!

"Ms. Steele is such a kind human being! She is always spoiling other teachers with goodies and treats. She really watches out for the needs of her students. She has gone out of her way this year to make sure her students get what they need. Ms. Steele is such a caring teacher."

"I would like to give a shout out to Ms. Steele. She has been such a patient and kind leader in first grade. She is willing to help at a moment's notice, and she is thoughtful in all her interactions. She not only excels at teaching her students, but she also has graciously accepted the role of lead teacher. She is at school every morning at the crack of dawn, and she brings coffee, pastries, smiles, and laughter to the first and second grade hallway. Thank you Ms. Steele!"

Congratulations to junior Jacob Traudt and senior Collen Todd for participating in the 2A State Golf Championship. Collen had the best score in the tournament on day 2, and he finished 6th overall, earning All-State Honors. Way to go, Sentinels!

Aristotle stressed the importance of moral virtue or excellence of character in a happy human life. The Aristotle Award commemorates that opinion, and will be given annually to 2 teachers who not only raise the intellectual caliber of the school and their students, but who display a character that raises the moral tenor and culture of the school.
Last year, the Aristotle Awards were presented to Mrs. Hermanson and Dr. Van Scoyk.

Please join us to celebrate their lectures in the Bailey Heritage Library.

Mrs. Hermanson will present on Thursday, October 22 from 5:00-6:00pm "Does it hurt to become real?” - The Velveteen Rabbit. She will explore lessons she and her students are learning about life through the Kindergarten curriculum.

Dr. Van Scoyk will present on Tuesday, November 10 from 5:00-6:00pm "Too Serious To Take Seriously." Dr. Van Scoyk, joined by the Quattuor Senes saxophone quartet, will share the words of wisdom from his own teachers that have shaped him as an educator, musician, and person.
