A colder, drier airmass will settle into the region late Friday behind the exit of an upper weather system and cold front. While many location have already seen their season ending freeze, areas of the Columbia Basin and adjacent foothills and valleys may see theirs Saturday morning. Morning low temperatures in the mid 20s to low 30s are forecast for these areas.

Breezy to windy westerly to northwesterly winds are expected (80% confidence) through the Eastern Columbia River Gorge and Kittitas Valley Thursday evening through Friday morning. A Wind Advisory is in effect, valid 7 PM Thursday to 11 AM Friday.

A Wind Advisory is in effect between 8AM-11PM PDT Friday for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge, Foothills of the Blue Mountains, Lower Columbia Basin, North Central Oregon, Central Oregon, Yakima Valley, and Simcoe Highlands. Sustained winds are expected to range between 15-35 MPH. Wind gusts will range between 40-55 MPH.

National Police K9 Day

Today we’re giving a well-deserved shoutout to the four-legged members of law enforcement who put their incredible skills to work every day.

Police K9s serve alongside their handlers in a wide range of roles — helping locate missing or endangered people, detecting drugs and explosives, tracking suspects, searching buildings and helping keep officers and our communities safer.

Behind every K9 team are countless hours of training, trust and teamwork. These working dogs aren’t just incredibly skilled — they’re dedicated partners who play an important role in public safety.

On National Police K9 Day, we’re proud to recognize the K9 teams serving throughout Spokane County and across our region.
