If you haven’t heard yet, it’s a great time to be in Gonzales! 🎉
Whether you decide to shop local, stay awhile in one of our hotels or bed and breakfasts, or discover Gonzales with family and friends, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come see why Gonzales is the place to shop, stay, and play!
Last week, the City of Gonzales team and those involved in the Texas Legacy in Lights project traveled to Fort Worth for the Texas Travel Summit, where they proudly accepted the inaugural Innovation & Impact Award from the Texas Travel Alliance on behalf of Discover Gonzales and the City of Gonzales!
This prestigious award recognizes destinations that transform bold ideas into a lasting benefit for its community. Discover Gonzales earned this honor for Texas Legacy in Lights, a first-of-its-kind immersive experience that transforms the historic Gonzales Memorial Museum into a living canvas for Texas history.
Through live-action storytelling, projection mapping, visual effects, and historical interpretation, visitors are transported through the events that shaped Gonzales and helped shape Texas itself. Presented free to the public year-round, the experience has become a successful after-dark attraction that supports local restaurants, shops, lodging properties, and cultural sites while fostering community pride among residents.
For demonstrating exceptional innovation, community collaboration, accessibility, heritage preservation, and lasting visitor impact, Discover Gonzales was selected as the recipient of the inaugural award.
