A few people have asked about Halloween this year. While Haloween is actually on Saturday the 31st, the chamber has planned for the downtown or business participation to be held on Friday, the 30th. This generally allows for more business participation. It looks like there will still be construction on Main Street both days, especially in the downtown area. Please extra cautious for vehicles and construction hazards.

Was your car burglarized on or about September 16th of this year in the City of Gooding? During the investigation noted in an earlier post, it looks like only about 10% of victims have reported it. If you were a victim and have not reported it to the police, please do so immediately through dispatch at (208) 324-1911. If you are unsure but, have certain valuable items in your unlocked vehicle, please check their presence, and please lock your vehicles. If you have camera footage of that night, please review and contact us if you find something useful.

šŸŽøšŸ¾ FIRST STOP ON THE ADOPT A ROCK STAR TOUR! šŸ¾šŸŽø

šŸ“ NOW PLAYING: CITY OF GOODING DOG POUND

The tour bus is officially rolling, and our first stop is GOODING! šŸŽ¤šŸ¤˜

Before we introduce you to the four-legged Rock Stars representing this facility, we want you to meet the shelter behind them—because Adopt a Rock Star isn’t only about finding homes for the dogs you see at our events.

It’s also about introducing our communities to the small municipal shelters caring for dogs every single day.

And Gooding may be small, but their mission certainly isn’t. ā¤ļø

🐾 MEET THE CITY OF GOODING DOG POUND

With just 13 kennels, the Gooding Dog Pound works to provide safe, compassionate and responsible care to every dog that comes through its doors while serving the Gooding community through responsible animal control, education and community partnerships.

When a lost dog arrives, their first goal is simple:

šŸ  GET THEM HOME. ā¤ļø

When going home isn’t possible, their team works to give that dog a new beginning—whether that’s through adoption or placement with a trusted rescue partner.

As a small municipal facility, they work hard to make the most of the resources available to them while continually improving their programs, partnerships, veterinary care and the quality of care provided to their dogs.

They are committed to maintaining their no-kill status and believe every dog deserves patience, kindness, dignity, proper care, a safe place to stay and, when needed, a second chance.

Because the Gooding Dog Pound isn’t simply a place where stray dogs wait.

ā¤ļø It’s where families are reunited.

🐾 It’s where dogs are cared for when they have nowhere else to go.

šŸ¤ It’s where community partnerships help create opportunities for dogs who need them.

And it’s where a small facility with 13 kennels and one BIG mission works every day to make a difference.

Sometimes, it’s also where a future ROCK STAR is sitting in a kennel just waiting for someone to notice them. šŸŽøšŸ˜‰

And THAT is exactly why we wanted small municipal facilities like Gooding on this tour.

Thanks to Twin Falls Subaru and Subaru Loves PetsĀ®, we’re sharing the stage this October—and we want you to do more than meet Gooding’s dogs at our adoption events.

We want you to discover this shelter.

Follow their dogs. Share their posts. Visit their facility. Tell your friends about them. And remember their name the next time you or someone you know is looking for a new best friend.

Because these dogs don’t stop needing homes when the concert ends. ā¤ļø

Give them a call, visit the dogs, follow their adoptables and help us make sure this little 13-kennel facility gets a BIG spotlight. šŸ¾ā¤ļø

And speaking of their dogs…

Gooding has already sent us their artist headshots. šŸ“øšŸ‘€

We’ve seen them.

We’ve begun the transformations.

And Gooding…

šŸŽ¤šŸ”„ YOUR ROCK STARS ARE ABOUT TO TAKE THE STAGE. šŸ”„šŸŽ¤

Don’t go anywhere.

šŸŽø GOODING’S OPENING ACT IS UP NEXT. šŸŽø

Different shelters. Different dogs. Same stage. Same mission.

Update 9-16:

If you haven't seen already, there was a change to this plan. From the north end of town to the area of ISDB, all traffic has been moved into the northbound lanes. Parking on Main will be limited if even available at all.

ad closure updates 9-15-26

All roads appear to be open with some short term closures for small work areas. Crews are trying not to close entire roads when only road edge work is being done. This results in partial lane closures, or roadways narrowed rather than closed while work is completed. Side road work should be finished completely in the next week or so.

The Main Street project should begin tomorrow with southbound lanes south of 9th Avenue being the first section worked. This will result in traffic pattern changes over the next month as pavement in each section is removed and repaved.

6th and 8th Ave West are now open completely
11th Ave West should be open tomorrow.

4th Ave E from Michigan to junction with 3rd at the pool park is closed through the weekend. If you are heading out towards Glanbia, use 3rd Ave E.

5th ave easy will get worked over next week.

Main Street should start seeing heavy work next week on the south bound side. Expect all traffic to be split in the northbound lanes.

"Pot Holes" on Main have been covered with thick metal plates, a standard practice when traffic activity negates the effectiveness of being filled with gravel or road millings.

Update: This happy boy got to home last night. Thank you all for sharing the post so that the owner could find him.

Somebody has to be missing our most recent stray dog. He is a very good boy and had a sleepover at a new friend's house. They were unable to get responses to their post about him.

It is Parade Day. The parade will run its usual route and begin at 5:30 PM. The parade route is highland yellow on the attached map. Staging of entries will likely be a bit different but, in the same general area at the ISDB track and round building. While it is available, the road and parking lot around ISDB is not included in the planned staging area.

Main Street south of 14th will likely still have lanes closed as sidewalk and access ramps are completed. The rest of Main should generally be fully open.

Other construction around side streets continues and changes on almost a daily basis. Additionally, take note that we were just advised this morning that the railroad crossing on Oregon will be closed for several days for repairs, as was done on Main Street a few weeks ago.
