Pound Population Update
Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on where things stand at the Gooding Dog Pound.
Right now, we are caring for 11 dogs. That may not sound like a large number compared to bigger shelters, but for a facility our size, it's a lot.
Please note that not every dog currently in our care is pictured. One dog is being temporarily housed due to a family emergency, and one dog is currently receiving veterinary care.
Currently:
• 1 dog is being temporarily housed due to a family emergency.
• 5 dogs are in need of placement. I am actively working to find homes for them myself while also networking them with rescue organizations in hopes of finding the best possible outcome. Four of those dogs are approximately 6-month-old puppies that came in together and will need a little extra help finding the right situation.
• 4 dogs are currently available for adoption.
• 1 additional dog will be available for adoption tomorrow.
• 1 dog is currently receiving veterinary care at Sawtooth Veterinary Services in Jerome.
Every kennel matters. When space gets tight, it becomes more difficult to take in new animals that may need our help. My goal is always to find the best outcome possible for every dog that comes through the pound, whether that's returning them to their owner, finding them a new home, or working with rescue partners to get them where they need to be.
As intake numbers continue to rise, so does the amount of food, supplies, and care needed each day. If anyone would like to help, donations of dog food are always appreciated and go directly toward caring for the animals currently at the pound.
Thank you to everyone who supports the pound, helps reunite lost pets with their owners, shares our posts, donates supplies, and gives these dogs a chance at a better future.

Adopted 6/4
Remember the little adventure pup we picked up wandering around town?
Well, nobody ever came looking for her, and now she's officially ready to find a family of her own.
This little girl has been an absolute sweetheart since coming into my care. She's friendly, loves attention, and would much rather be hanging out with people than spending time by herself. She's especially fond of kids and is always excited when she gets visitors.
She's still working on her potty training, but she's actually been doing pretty well for me here at the pound. Like any young dog, she'll need a little patience and consistency as she settles into a new home, but she's eager to learn and wants to be a good girl.
What she really wants is a couch to nap on, people to love, and a family that won't let her go on any more solo road trips.
If you're looking for a small dog with a big personality and a lot of love to give, come meet her.

Well… no one has claimed this little adventure pup.
So now this tiny runaway is officially hanging out with us while we get her ready for adoption.
She’s been sweet since coming in and seems pretty happy trading her “solo road trip” lifestyle for regular meals, attention, and a warm place to crash. Tiny dog, big personality.
Before she can officially head to a new home, she’ll need to be seen by a vet to make sure she’s healthy and ready for adoption. Once she gets the all clear, we’ll start looking for the perfect family for her.
We’ll keep everyone updated as we learn more about her.

Moonsong Malamute Rescue, Inc has stepped in to take this handsome guy. He will be headed to a foster once the details get worked out.
Shadow is a 6-year-old Alaskan Malamute looking for a new place to call home. This wasn’t the path he would’ve chosen for himself, but we’re doing our best to make sure his next chapter is a good one.
Shadow is a friendly boy who has been around kids and other dogs. He’s neutered, social, and enjoys being around people. Like most Malamutes, he’s got a little personality to him — including being a bit of a talker. If you know the breed, you know they like to have opinions, and Shadow is no exception.
He stands around 24 inches tall at the shoulders and weighs somewhere around 50 pounds… at least that’s our best guess since he strongly disagrees with standing still on the scale long enough for an official answer.
Shadow doesn’t enjoy kennel life and would much rather be back in a home where he can relax, be part of a family, and get the attention he deserves. He’s looking for someone willing to give him that fresh start and a soft place to land.
If you think Shadow might be a fit for your family, reach out to the Gooding Dog Pound to meet him @ (208)961-6005
