Oaktree Elementary School Oaktree Elementary School believes in the development of the whole child and that our school should be more than a content machine. Creativity and Innovation
2.

The latest research says that students today do not need a school to deliver content because content is available everywhere, mostly for free:

β€œStudents who only know how to perform well in today’s education systemβ€”get good grades and test scores, and earn degreesβ€”will no longer be those who are most likely to succeed. Thriving in the twenty-first century will require real competencies, far more than academic credentials.”
― Tony Wagner, Most Likely to Succeed:

Preparing Our Kids for the Innovation Era
In order to compete, our students need to develop the following skills:
1. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
3. Communication and Collaboration
4. Flexibility and Adaptability
5. Initiative and Self-Direction
6. Social and Cross-Cultural Skills
7. Productivity and Accountability
8. Leadership and Responsibility

This is where The Leader in Me comes in. Oaktree Elementary School is a The Leader in Me School. If you are unfamiliar with The Leader in Me or need a refresher, The Leader in Me is:

1. Is a process designed to help teachers develop leadership skills in their students.
2. Helps students discover their unique strengths.
3. Gives all students an opportunity to shineβ€”to become leaders.
4. Helps infuse the language of the 7 Habits into all the curriculum.

🚌 πŸ’› It's School Bus Safety Week! πŸ’™ 🚌

Keeping our Martians safe is a responsibility we all share! This week, we're reminding our students, families, and community to practice school bus safety. Slow down, stay alert, and always stop for buses when their red lights are flashing.

A little extra caution goes a long way in keeping our students safe on their way to and from school! πŸ’™ πŸ’›

Mr. Bryan thank you for all you do for us 😍

October is National Principals Month, and we are so grateful for the incredible leaders we have throughout Goodrich Area Schools!

Our principals are so much more than the leaders of their buildings. They celebrate accomplishments, encourage students through challenges, support our staff, connect with families, and help create school communities where every student feels welcomed, supported, and valued.

Their days are filled with countless decisions, conversations, celebrations, and moments that often happen behind the scenes , all with the same goal of doing what is best for our students. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment make a difference throughout our district each and every day.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful group of principals leading our schools. Thank you for leading with heart, for believing in our students and staff, and for the time and care you give to Goodrich Area Schools. We are truly grateful for each of you! πŸ’™ πŸ’›
