Some businesses help keep Gorham moving. Elevate Physical Therapy takes that quite literally!

Fresh off celebrating their 7th birthday, Elevate PT has spent those years helping people return to the activities they love, whether that’s recovering from an injury, getting back into sports, or simply feeling more comfortable and confident in everyday life.

Led by owner and physical therapist Jonathan Cowie, Elevate believes that recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. Their approach centers on individualized treatment plans, measurable progress, and empowering patients with the knowledge and tools to take an active role in their long-term health.

From sports injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation to back and neck pain, balance concerns, and vertigo, Elevate offers a wide range of services. Their team also uses many specialized treatments such as corrective exercises, high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) manipulation, dry needling, but whatever the treatment, it’s always with an emphasis on understanding each patient’s unique needs and goals.

What makes a local business special isn’t just what happens inside its doors.

Elevate’s team also makes time to show up for Gorham. Between their festive Halloween costumes for the Gorham Rams Soccer Team and their recent birthday celebration, it’s clear this crew knows how to balance serious care with a little silliness.

Seven years in business is a milestone worth celebrating! It’s also a reminder of the important role local businesses play in strengthening our community. By building relationships, supporting local events, and investing in the well-being of their neighbors, businesses like Elevate Physical Therapy help make Gorham a healthier, more connected place to live, work, and play.

A heartfelt thank you to Elevate Physical Therapy for making Go Outside, Gorham! Fall Edition possible, and for continuing to show up for our community in ways that extend well beyond the treatment room.

Here’s to seven wonderful years and many more ahead!

Right on Main Street in the heart of Gorham, Sullivan House Bakery has quickly become a welcoming community space for fresh food, meaningful connection, and a little everyday comfort.

Open Tuesday through Saturday until 2pm, SHB offers much more than their famous chocolate chip cookies! Find freshly baked pastries, breakfast, lunch, and a rotating selection of Coffee by Design coffees.

You’ll also find grab-and-go options, take-and-bake items, local art, and gifts — perfect for the treat you absolutely deserve, the dinner party side dish you definitely meant to make ahead of time, or a gift for someone special.

And SHB’s reach extends beyond the café! They take special orders, offer catering, and have a growing wholesale pastry line. Know a business that should be carrying their baked goods? Send them SHB’s way!

As part of a university town, SHB has become a go-to spot for study sessions, group projects, and casual meetings. With free Wi-Fi and a reservable conference table seating eight, there’s room to settle in, collaborate, and enjoy something delicious.

Behind the bakery is Nancy, who traded a robust corporate career for a new adventure. Inspired by generations of talented cooks and bakers in her family, she opened SHB in 2021, and has been building, adapting, and growing ever since.

Running a small business takes resilience, creativity, and a willingness to wear more hats than anyone could possibly count. Through rising costs, busy seasons, and all the unexpected challenges, Nancy and her team have continued showing up for their community with warm welcomes, delicious food, and enough caffeine to get us all through the day.

Thank you, Sullivan House Bakery, for your generosity, community spirit, and support of Go Outside, Gorham! Fall Edition. We’re so grateful to have you as a Featured Sponsor and couldn’t do it without you!

And because the air is officially crisp… follow Sullivan House Bakery for details on Thanksgiving dessert pre-orders!

Located on the upper floors of the iconic corner building - 6 School Street - Dance Studio Of Maine has been a long-standing part of Gorham’s business community, helping dancers of all ages learn, grow, perform, and build confidence.

With classes for dancers of all ages, DSM offers a welcoming space for movement, creativity, friendship, and self-expression through ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tumbling/acro, and more.

This next chapter is especially exciting with Lexi, DSM’s new Studio Director, helping guide daily operations and future growth. Once a student herself, Lexi has returned to the studio with a thoughtful, forward-looking approach and a clear excitement for connecting DSM more deeply with the community.
That kind of outreach matters. When local businesses participate in community events, they create opportunities for visibility, relationship-building, and long-term growth, while helping make Gorham’s village center feel active, welcoming, and connected.

DSM’s impact also extends beyond the studio. In September, their Artist Collective partnered with MePowered Pastries to prepare meals for local families in need, giving dancers a meaningful opportunity to serve the community around them.

As part of Fall Fest, DSM is offering a special registration opportunity: mention Fall Fest when registering and they’ll waive the registration fee.

Yes, you read that right.

They currently have classes available for dancers of all ages, free trial classes, and registration open for their January–May Recital Session, with the annual recital taking place June 5 at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center.

Thank you, Dance Studio Of Maine, for supporting Go Outside, Gorham! Fall Edition and for continuing to bring energy, creativity, and connection to our community!

Great communities are shaped by the people who invest in them, build within them, and care deeply about what they leave behind.

For Gorham, Great Falls Construction has been one of those businesses.

Led by the Smith family, and their incredible crew, Great Falls Construction has long been dedicated to this community and to the integrity of the buildings they own, create, and repair. Their work can be seen throughout Gorham, including one of the most recognizable blocks in town: Railroad Ave.

Their iconic Station Square building helped bring new energy and opportunity into the heart of the village, with 33 residential units, office space, a two-story w**e bar with a view, and a bowling alley/restaurant, all thoughtfully designed in a way that supports growth while honoring the heritage and historic feel of our community.

Today, Great Falls Construction continues that legacy through projects like the University of Southern Maine’s new Art Building on the Gorham campus, expected to be completed ahead of the Fall 2027 semester. Once complete, this state-of-the-art facility will help support the next generation of artists, makers, designers, and creative thinkers right here in Gorham, making it an especially meaningful project for both USM and the broader community.

Their impact clearly extends well beyond construction. As one of the longer-standing Aspire Gorham mentor businesses, and recent recognition as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for 2026, Great Falls’ caring and dedicated nature is not just reflected in the projects they complete, but in the way they support and invest in their team and community every day.

Thank you, Great Falls Construction, for your partnership, generosity, dedication, and for modeling the kind of Gorham spirit we hope to see across our community, and for your support and encouragement of events like these!

“To inspire people to enjoy gardening and the outdoors by providing exceptional plants, knowledgeable service, and a welcoming experience that strengthens our community.”

That mission is at the heart of Odonals Nursery, and it is exactly why we are so grateful to have them as one of our Go Outside, Gorham! Fall Edition Featured Sponsors.

Rooted in Maine since 1921, O’Donal’s is more than a garden center. For over 100 years, they have helped Maine families create beautiful outdoor spaces through quality plants, expert advice, and a welcoming destination experience for gardeners of all skill levels.

From seasonal favorites like mums, asters, pumpkins, gourds, porch planters, trees, and shrubs to houseplants, pottery, giftware, and year-round gardening support, O’Donal’s offers inspiration for every season. Their team is committed to helping customers succeed, whether they are planting one pot, planning a pollinator garden, exploring native plants, or reimagining an entire outdoor space.

O’Donal’s also continues to invest in employee development, customer education, environmentally responsible plant choices, and community connection. Those values came through clearly when we first connected with Kyle about this event.

Kyle shared O’Donal’s excitement for being more present in the Gorham community and supporting opportunities that bring people together through gardening, outdoor living, and shared experiences. His pride in the O’Donal’s team, their growth, and their future here in Gorham left a lasting impression.

That spirit is exactly what Go Outside, Gorham! is all about.

Thank you, Odonals Nursery, for your generous support and for helping us celebrate outdoor recreation, community connection, and another beautiful Autumn day in Gorham, Maine.
