As the temperatures drop and heaters come on, remember: carbon monoxide is the silent threat.

Three short beeps usually means the CO alarm. Three long beeps usually means the smoke alarm.

âś… Install CO detectors on every level of your home
âś… Test them regularly
âś… Never run generators or grills indoors
âś… Have your furnace inspected

The same applies for both smoke and CO alarms, they have a service life, so check the dates periodically.

If the alarm sounds, get outside and call 911, and we'll be there to check it out.

Meet 1260 (Formerly knows as Rescue 53)

It is a 2000 KME Rescue/Pumper and it carries 1,000 gallons of water with a Hale 1250 GPM pump.

It is first due for any vehicle crashes, vehicle fires, and other rescue needs.
It has all of our extrication tools (think "Jaws of Life"), cribbing, and other hand and power tools to get the job done.

If our engine is down for maintenance, this can easily substitute as the first due truck to any structure fire as well.

Red, yellow, brown, and purple. The beautiful colors of fall are here, and so are leaf piles and outdoor burning season.

A few tips to keep in mind this pumpkin spice season:

⛔️ Never leave a fire unattended
🧯 Keep a water source (hose or bucket) or an extinguisher nearby
âś… Check local burn regulations before lighting anything
🔥 Clear a safe zone around the burn area

If you have any questions, call or message us.

Over the last week you may have noticed a few vehicles in our back parking lot, even one on it's roof!

We've spent time practicing vehicle extrication: cutting, spreading, and stabilizing so we stay ready when someone is trapped after a crash.
We try to do this at least once a year. As vehicles change, we can train on new techniques, keep up to date on safety innovations, and make sure the tools and the people work together when every second counts.

A huge thank you to Tom's 24 Hour Towing Inc, who donated the vehicles so we could train with real metal instead of just theory.

If you have any questions on the tools we use, let us know in the comments!

US 20, State Road 15, and County Road 17 run right through our response area.

We are on these roads regularly for crashes.
A few things that genuinely help keep everyone safer — including the firefighters working the scene:
âś… Move over (or slow down significantly) when you see emergency lights
✅ Put the phone down — distracted driving killed more than 3,200 people nationwide in 2024
âś… Buckle up every trip, every seat
âś… Give extra space in work zones and bad weather

If you come up on a crash, pull well off the road before stopping to help or call 911.
We’re always here when you need us.

Drive safe, neighbors.

Hope you enjoyed breakfast this weekend!

While you’re thinking about home and family, here’s a quick safety check: When was the last time you tested your smoke alarms?

âś… Test monthly
âś… Change batteries twice a year
âś… Replace the unit every 10 years (they don't last forever)

Tag a neighbor who needs this reminder.
