A group of students in 10th–12th grade recently had the opportunity to explore careers in manufacturing during a field trip with Ms. Bateman and Mr. Sochia. The students visited the Pepsi plant in Ogdensburg and Cives Steel in Gouverneur to learn about the many career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry.

Students gained insight into the education and training needed for various positions, learned about the day-to-day operations at each facility, and discovered what it takes to keep these businesses running smoothly.

A big thank you to Pepsi and Cives Steel for welcoming our students and providing valuable, real-world learning experiences to help them explore their future career paths!

Congratulations to Kylie Gallagher and Hannah White, two Gouverneur FFA students selected to perform in the prestigious National FFA Band at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 21–24!

The National FFA Band is an elite group of musicians, with only 80–90 students selected from across the country each year. Kylie and Hannah are representing Gouverneur with their incredible musical talents as they perform throughout the convention!

Congratulations to both of these outstanding students, and a big shout-out to all of our Gouverneur High School FFA members who are in Indianapolis representing our school and community. We are cheering you on and hope you have an amazing experience!

Here is a video of one of their performances.

Hannah is playing French horn: 4th row back, 2nd chair in on the right side

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

On October 19, our fourth-grade students had the wonderful opportunity to welcome Perry Ground of Talking Turtle Stories!

Perry is a Turtle Clan member of the Onondaga Nation of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy and has been sharing his knowledge of Native American history and culture with students for over 25 years.

During this engaging experience, students listened to traditional Haudenosaunee stories passed down through generations, gaining a deeper understanding of the beliefs, customs, and history of the Haudenosaunee people.

Students also explored the importance of the Three Sisters—corn, beans, and squash—and learned how these crops played an essential role in Haudenosaunee life. They even had the opportunity to create their own traditional cornhusk dolls to take home!

This hands-on learning experience brought our fourth-grade ELA and Social Studies curriculum to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

A huge Wildcat thank-you to Perry Ground for sharing his stories, traditions, and knowledge with our students!
