Tygart Lake Official page. One of 16 flood risk management reservoirs in USACE Pittsburgh District. The lake is located in Taylor and Barbour Counties.

Tygart Lake and Dam are located on the Tygart Valley River, about 2.25 miles above Grafton, WV. The total area of the lake during the summer covers 1,750 acres and the lake has 31 miles of shoreline. Visitors can access the lake by three boat launching ramps and a public marina. Fishing in Tygart Lake is an exciting experience with bass, walleye, trout, catfish, muskie, perch, and many other fish being caught! Located at the dam there are picnic sites with grills, and a pavilion that can be reserved. There are also two hiking trails that lead to State Park Trails. Stop at our visitor center, located in the Tygart Lake Office, for brochures and maps, its a great way to start your visit at Tygart Lake!

Season’s Greetings! Take time to invest in the ones you love. Did you know that after you’ve fallen into cold water, that’s 70°F (21°C) or less, it’s nearly impossible to put on a life jacket, or even hold onto one? In approximately 10-minutes you won’t be able to move your arms or legs, so by dressing in layers, including wearing a life jacket over a dry suit.
