Being a judge requires discernment—the ability to listen carefully, ask questions, and recognize that not everything you hear is true.
It also requires knowing the limits of your authority. A judge must act within the court’s jurisdiction, decide the matters properly before the court, and base decisions on the evidence received, the testimony heard, and the law that applies.
I have always been willing to call out corruption within the justice system, and I always will. Our system is only as good as the people within it. Accountability matters, especially for those entrusted with the power to make decisions that affect other people’s lives.
I want to be a judge because I want to ensure that, at least in my courtroom, every person has a meaningful opportunity to be heard. People may disagree with a ruling, but they should never leave feeling that their voice did not matter.
That includes people representing themselves. Pro se litigants deserve patience, respect, and a fair opportunity to present their case. A person’s ability to afford an attorney should never determine whether their voice matters. A judge must remain impartial while ensuring that everyone has a meaningful opportunity to participate. Justice available only to those who can afford it is no justice at all.
I know elections can bring rumors and false claims. I will not participate in spreading false information, and I will not condone others doing so, including those who support me.
If you have heard something about me, I welcome you to ask me directly. I will gladly answer questions as fully as I can within the ethical rules governing judicial candidates and the limits on what we may publicly discuss.
I stand by my decisions and actions, and I am willing to speak openly about them within those boundaries. I have never backed down from speaking the truth, and I never will.
Integrity means standing up for what is right even when doing so is difficult, unpopular, or brings backlash. That is the standard I hold myself to, and it is the standard I would bring to the bench.
The best part of democracy is that voters get to choose.
You get to be the judge. Choose wisely.
