🍂🎃 Community High School Celebrates Family Night! 🍁

Community High School is bringing families together in a new way! This year, the school is piloting Family Nights as a fresh alternative to traditional parent-teacher conferences, creating opportunities for students, families, and staff to connect in a fun and welcoming environment.

The first Family Night featured a Harvest theme, complete with outdoor s'mores around a bonfire and pumpkin painting! 🎨🔥 Families enjoyed decorating mini pumpkins to take home, spending quality time together, and connecting with school staff outside the classroom.

With a great turnout and plenty of smiles, Family Night was a success! Community High School has three more themed Family Nights planned throughout the school year, offering even more opportunities to strengthen connections between school and home.

Students at Century Elementary have been busy practicing their skills, staying active, and having fun with friends through the Intramural Program.

Through the generous support of Oxford Realty, students across the district can continue participating in intramurals, building teamwork, developing new skills, and enjoying opportunities to stay active outside the classroom.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced more than 16,000 Semifinalists nationwide, and we're proud to celebrate the students below who represent North Dakota:

These high school seniors ranked among the top academic performers in the country. Semifinalists now have the opportunity to advance to Finalist standing and compete for some 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million, which will be offered next spring. About 95% of Semifinalists are expected to become Finalists.

Congratulations to these students, and to the families, teachers, and schools who supported them. We can't wait to see what comes next! 👏

REMINDER:
Middle schools, high schools, and Nathan Twining Elementary and Middle School will dismiss at 1PM, elementary schools will dismiss at 1:30PM and Head Start will dismiss at 12PM TOMORROW (Oct. 21) for teacher professional learning communities (PLC's).

Future Leaders in Action at the DECA New Member Conference!

New DECA members recently gathered at the Alerus Center for a day of hands-on learning, leadership development, and teamwork!

Throughout the conference, students participated in five breakout sessions focused on building real-world business skills. Activities included competitive role-play practice, leadership challenges with the Army National Guard, creative product pitches, and DECA marketing trivia.

Students also received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Alerus Center, learning how its marketing team promotes and coordinates events.

What a great opportunity for these future business leaders to build confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and connect with fellow DECA members!
