UND Sociology’s Liz Legerski led this year's Alice T. Clark new faculty cohort (including the department's own Dr. Claudine Pied!) on the annual Alice T. Clark retreat to Bemidji, MN. The group met in the Finnish Language Village at the Concordia Language Villages situated on Turtle River Lake and spent time taking a deep dive into their contracts and expectations for promotion and/or tenure, exchanging and giving feedback on assignments, and talking about the impact of AI in classrooms. The retreat also featured a trivia tournament, where participants submitted questions related to their fields.

This summer, UND Sociology’s Dr. Liz Legerski joined new faculty on a bus tour of North Dakota! In addition to meeting and spending time with some of UND's newest faculty, Dr. Legerski enjoyed the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, which lets visitors step into Roosevelt's shoes on the campaign trail and during his presidency. Dr. Legerski also enjoyed meeting Babe, an orphaned juvenile Bison, at the Black Leg Ranch, and learning about cloud seeding technologies at the Fargo Jet Center. We're off to see the Wizard... and his name is Daniel Bartholomay!✨

When Daniel isn't teaching sociology courses at UND, he's actively involved in the local theater community. Much like the Wizard of Oz, Danny works his magic behind the scenes at the Empire Theatre in Grand Forks, where he serves as assistant director and choreographer for The Wizard of Oz.
