⏰ It's time to FALL BACK!

Don't forget! Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 1. Remember to turn your clocks back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.

Enjoy that extra hour of sleep! 😴

➡️As daylight hours grow shorter, please stay extra alert during your early morning and late afternoon commutes. Watch for pedestrians, cyclists, and road work crews who may be harder to see in low-light conditions.

Yes, this is your second mailbox-shaking reminder this month. No, we’re not sorry. 📬

November is almost here, which means winter weather won’t be far behind.

Give your mailbox another shake. If the post or connections are loose, now’s the time to tighten them up before the snowplows start rolling. ❄️

🪚It's Fall Training Day in Coopersville, and today's focus is all things chainsaws!

Crews from all four OCRC garages are gathered at our Coopersville facility today for a full day of training on chainsaw maintenance and safe operation with instructor Dustin Brighton.

From clearing fallen trees to removing brush along roadways, chainsaws are an important tool for our crews. Proper training helps ensure they're ready to use them safely and effectively.

Thanks to Dustin for sharing his knowledge and expertise with our team!

🚧Ever drive past a road project and think, "Why are they working on THAT road? It looks perfectly fine!"

Well, sometimes that's exactly the point! 😎

Just like changing the oil in your car before the engine gives up, roads benefit from preventive maintenance before major problems develop.

Treatments that preserve pavement can help extend a road's lifespan, slow deterioration, and reduce the need for more expensive repairs down the road.

Putting our snowplow skills to the test! 🚛❄️

A group of OCRC employees joined road agencies from across the region today for the 2026 American Public Works Association Snowplow Roadeo, hosted by the City of Walker, Michigan!

This hands-on training opportunity helps our drivers sharpen their precision driving and equipment-handling skills, so they’re even better prepared to keep roads safe and clear throughout the winter. Behind the wheel of snowplows provided by the host city, our participating employees navigated a challenging obstacle course while learning from and connecting with other road professionals.

Check out our crews in action!🎥

🍂 Fall reminder: Keep leaves out of roads and roadside ditches!

As the leaves start piling up, remember that where they end up matters!

🍁 Leaves and yard debris can block roadside drainage, potentially leading to standing water and flooding.

🍁 Leaves piled in the roadway can create slippery conditions for drivers and bicyclists, especially when wet.

Help keep our roads safe and drainage systems working properly this fall by keeping leaves and other yard debris out of roads and roadside ditches.

Our hearts are with the Eaton County Road Commission and the family, friends and coworkers of the road worker tragically lost in a work zone on Tuesday. 🧡

It’s a heartbreaking reminder that behind every cone, barrel and work-zone sign are people doing their jobs — working to maintain our roads and help keep our communities moving safely.

When you approach a work zone, please slow down, stay alert, put distractions away and move over when possible.

Everyone working along our roads deserves to make it home safely at the end of the day.
