At approximately 04:48 a.m., GPFD responded to a house fire in the 3600 block of Green Hollow Drive with reports of two possible victims trapped inside. Upon arrival, firefighters found a structure fully engulfed in flames, with a visible collapsing roof. The crews quickly began a primary search and located an adult male, who was removed through a window. The male was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

As firefighters continued searching for a second victim, the structure’s walls began to collapse, forcing firefighters to evacuate.

An adult female victim was later located and pronounced deceased at the scene.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, but has since been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Last week, members of the Grand Prairie Fire Department Honor Guard successfully graduated from the National Honor Guard Academy!

The academy brought together public safety professionals from across the country to enhance their knowledge of honor guard duties, discipline, and professionalism.

James Kubinski has been selected as the Grand Prairie Fire Department’s next Fire Chief! Welcome to the City of Grand Prairie - Municipal Government.

The City of Grand Prairie is proud to announce the selection of James Kubinski to serve as the City’s next fire chief. Kubinski brings nearly 30 years of experience and currently serves as fire chief for the City of Killeen, Texas.

They enjoyed meeting local firefighters and learning about fire safety in a fun, age-appropriate way.

This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety!” 🔋

Our everyday devices rely on lithium-ion batteries including phones, laptops, e-bikes, scooters, and power tools. While these batteries provide convenience in our daily lives, improper use, charging, or storage can create a serious fire risk.

This Fire Prevention Week, let’s learn how to safely use and charge lithium-ion batteries to help prevent battery related fires.

✅ Use approved chargers
✅ Follow manufacturer instructions
✅ Inspect batteries for damage
✅ Keep batteries away from heat and flammable materials
✅ Never use a battery that is swollen, leaking, or damaged
✅ Never sleep with a phone or tablet under your pillow or on your bed
