I’d be remiss if I didn’t make notice of May being Mental Health Awareness Month. Men’s mental health awareness in particular is a cause that’s both familiar and personal to me. Too often, mental health struggles with men are under-diagnosed or misdiagnosed.
If you need help in any capacity, please seek it. The world is so much better with you in it. I’m always a message away.

To know Ben Greene, the youngest Chair of our County Commission in history, is to know Kent County is in the best of hands with him at the helm!
Ben and I relate on a lot. We both broke glass ceilings for our ages in elected office, and most importantly, we both care more about sound policy over personality and partisan theatrics. He was a kind and thoughtful partner during my years on the Grand Rapids City Commission.
Couldn’t be more honored to have him in my corner for my State Rep campaign. Let’s bring that same local approach back to West Michigan this November! 🎉

I count former Grand Rapids City Commissioner Dave Shaffer as both a political mentor and a friend! He’s kind, compassionate, involved, principled, and has a strong policy record of caring for our West Michigan neighborhoods.
I was proud to have his endorsement as a successful City Commission candidate to continue on the legacy he built in Ward 1. I’m even more proud to have his endorsement stepping into this new endeavor.
Amidst the noise we sometimes see at higher levels of government, we know local experience produces local results. I’m ready to listen and ensure our unique west Michigan values are represented in Lansing!

Spent my day chatting with the residents of Grandville! Of course, powered by a midday cold brew pick-me-up from Wildroast.
I think I was too excited about the nice weather that I neglected to forget you can still get sunburnt in May… 🫣
Nonetheless, the comments I heard were consistent: utilities are getting super expensive, taxes are too high, parents are concerned about the failing outcomes of Michigan schools, and moreover, people are just confused where all their taxpayer dollars are going without the results to show.
These reasons are exactly why I’m running. Let’s get Michigan back on track!

President Abraham Lincoln is one of the most principled leaders our nation has ever produced. Attending the Lincoln Day Dinner tonight reminded me of one of my favorite quotes of his.
The remarks given by Terri DeBoer were especially inspiring… she’s an incredible woman! The road back to common sense, compassionate policy begins right here in West Michigan. I wholeheartedly believe that, and I’m proud to be part of that journey.

I’m thrilled to see Governor Whitmer supporting this important budget item! During my years in the U.S. Army Reserve, I visited Selfridge many times. This military establishment plays a huge role in Michigan’s economy.
I hope our friends in the Michigan Senate will remove themselves as the final barrier to passing this critical funding. 🙌🏼
Governor Whitmer and House Republicans agree:
Selfridge MUST be funded by June 1.
It's long past time for Kevin Hertel, Winnie Brinks, and Senate Dems to STOP JEOPARDIZING THE MISSION and PASS our critical funding for new runways so that Selfridge Air National Guard base can receive the HISTORIC fighter mission from President Trump.

🚔 Happy National Police Week to the men and women who risk their lives to ensure we have safe and thriving communities — every. single. day! Not to mention, they still come home after long shifts to play the role of mothers, fathers, caretakers, and friends on top of it all.
