The Grand Rapids Housing Commission celebrated our 60th anniversary with a reception and dinner event yesterday evening at the GVSU Eberhard Center. The program included remarks from U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten and Michigan Representative Kristian Grant as well as community partner awards presented to organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional support of our agency’s resident education and self-sufficiency initiatives.

Congratulations to the winners of the GRHC’s local 2026 NAHRO “What Home Means to Me” Poster Contest:
Samara Alicea, grades K-5
Rihanna Brown, grades 6-8

Local winners each received a $25 Visa gift card, and Rihanna’s poster also earned her top honors at the state-level NAHRO Poster Contest in the middle school category!

Rihanna’s "What Home Means to Me" Poster Contest entry has been sent with other state winners’ entries to NAHRO's regional poster contest, and regional winners will move on to the national contest and a chance to win a cash prize and a trip to Washington, D.C.

Thanks to all of the young artists who shared their artwork and thoughts about home with us!

NAHRO is the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, a professional membership organization that represents more than 26,000 housing and community development providers and professionals nationwide.

The Grand Rapids Housing Commission is currently seeking a qualified Human Resources professional for a part-time position that will provide operational and administrative support, including assisting with personnel records management, recruitment, employee communications, benefits administration and compliance. Pay range is $26.96 to $28.60 per hour.
