As we start wrapping up the school year, we wanted to give a huge thank you to Dean Transportation for helping children staying in shelter get to and from school safely each day.

Reliable transportation means more than just a ride. It helps children stay connected to their education, maintain routines, and experience stability during a difficult time.

We are grateful for partners like Dean Transportation who help make sure children can continue learning, growing, and simply being kids. Thank you for helping support families in our community. πŸ’™

Shout out to Rockford Construction's Healthcare team and Meijer's Asset Protection team for spending time with us this week to rehabilitate two houses that will soon welcome families!

These volunteers do so much more than paint walls and rake leaves. Their hard work transforms houses into homes that offer families a stable and dignified place from which to thrive. We are so grateful for their support!

This past Friday, we kicked off Monthly Movie Nights at our Wyoming Park Family Shelter! 🎬 Families enjoyed freshly popped popcorn and themed snacks as parents and kids relaxed together and laughed watching Disney's Lilo & Stitch.

Thank you to our friends at Comfort Research for providing comfy seating and to the donors whose support brought Monthly Movie Nights to life!

We are incredibly grateful to Rhythm Dance Center for their generous support and for sharing their time and talents with families in our shelter through their Reaching for Rhythm program. Through dance, creativity, and connection, they are helping children build confidence, express themselves, and experience joy during a difficult time.

Their commitment to giving back reflects the power of community and the impact that compassion can have on families in our community. Thank you for investing in our children and creating meaningful moments that inspire, encourage, and uplift.

Family homelessness is rising, and solving it takes more than shelter alone.

At Family Promise of West Michigan, we advocate for policies that help families stay housed, including eviction prevention, affordable housing, and access to critical supports.

As Jim Davis recently shared in an Advocacy Boot Camp Q&A by the Michigan League for Public Policy, β€œWhen more people understand that family homelessness is happening right in their own community, it becomes easier to build the will needed to solve the problem...housing doesn't exist in a vacuum and neither do the solutions.”

Thank you to everyone helping create a stronger, more stable community for families in West Michigan.
