On April 9, 2025, Kent Co. Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young and Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Quentin McCart celebrated a new partnership 🤝 between the Kent County Sheriff’s Office 🚔 and the U.S. Army through the PaYS Program.

This collaboration will open doors for veterans transitioning into law enforcement careers 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️ and create a powerful bridge between military service and community impact 🌍.

Whether a soldier serves for 20+ years or just a single enlistment, this partnership ensures they have a pathway home 🏠—and a future full of purpose. It also provides Army Reservists with the opportunity to serve their country and their communities, side by side.

Over the weekend, NCOs assigned to the Grand Rapids Recruiting Company conducted Combat Life Saver (CLS) training with 21 Future Soldiers excited to ship to basic training! Future Soldiers learned the basics of applying a tourniquet, care under fire and carrying techniques.
