WHAT: GR Sports Hall of Fame VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC featuring teams from Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Oakland University and Western Michigan University.
WHEN: Saturday with matches at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse at Grand Rapids Community College
WHY: To benefit K-8th grade sports via Great Sports, Great Kids and the Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation.
HOW: Collegiate volleyball teams have a spring schedule of exhibition competitions in preparation for their fall regular season.
TICKETS: $10 at the door, cash preferred, or $10 in advance at grshof.com.

GR SPORTS HALL OF FAME: Accepting 2026 Public Nominations

GRAND RAPIDS – Nominations are being accepted for the 2026 elections of the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame.
The 2026 deadline for application is March 1. Nominations made after that date will be considered in 2027.
The Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame currently elects a class annually for induction.
Recognition of nominees is based on a number of factors including participation at any and all levels of sports competition, as well as civic contributions. The induction process is rigorous because the trustees believe it is an honor to be inducted into the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame.

DAVENPORT HOSTS FERRIS IN SECOND CALDER CITY CLASSIC

WHAT: Davenport University’s football team hosts Ferris State University in the second Calder City Classic. A year ago, the schools agreed to make their annual rivalry meeting a traveling trophy game. Plans are to have the game once in three-year spans at a neutral site in Grand Rapids. The Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame is supporting the effort.
