SAFE TASK FORCE PITCH & HIGHLIGHT NIGHT APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 SAFE Pitch & Highlight Night, inviting community members to pitch their ideas! If you have a vision to help reduce violence, create pro-social opportunities, or support youth mental health in Grand Rapids, this is your moment to step forward!

Up to 10 community ideas will be selected to present—and five winners will receive up to $10,000 each to bring their violence-reduction project to life. Applications are open now online and must be submitted on or before October 23rd. Community members are also invited to attend SAFE Pitch & Highlight Night on October 28 from 6–9 p.m. at the MLK Community Center. Enjoy a free dinner, hear powerful ideas from residents working to reduce violence in Grand Rapids, and connect with neighbors who share a commitment to creating safe spaces for youth.

This community celebration is open to everyone and promises an evening of connection, inspiration, and collective hope for a safer future!

Senior APA Travis Earley gave a nine-year-old victim a voice in court today in a Criminal Sexual Conduct case. This guilty verdict would not have been possible without the dedicated support of our victim advocate, Noemy Aguilar, and the Wyoming Police Department. We are grateful for their commitment to seeking justice and supporting victims.

We had a busy week at the Kent County Prosecutor’s office!

APA Blair Lachman secured justice on a double homicide case. The jury came back with verdicts of guilty on two counts of 1st Degree Murder and two counts of Felony Fi***rm.

APA Mickey Sheehan also worked hard this week to secure guilty verdicts on all counts in an Assault with Intent to Commit Murder case.

APA Amanda Ingraham had her debut in front of the Michigan Supreme Court.

APA Brian Kremers also had his debut in front of the Court of Appeals.
