A quick round up of May happenings.


Did you know April was NASW’s focus on worker safety and public protection initiatives? I didn’t either but I am sharing some interesting information. NASW is also working on a document regarding worker safety. I added my feedback and I am hopeful there will be some more conversation and accounting of the working conditions of social workers.

Just A Social Worker is hosting a consultation group the last Monday of the month. Join us to work through a case, discuss professional ethics or even consult on moving to a different role within social work.

JASW is also supporting the diaper drive for April and the mutual aide group GR Rapid Response who support our undocumented community in Kent County Michigan.

In honor of Trans visibility day, 2026… the Supreme Court handed down a devastating ruling for people experiencing gender misalignment. This impacts us all by making our community unsafe.


If you are a social worker thinking of or practicing this shoddy form of therapy, you are causing harm and should be reported to the licensing board.

Oh spring and sun..how I have missed you!

This is very avoidable…healthcare workers including social workers are 5x more likely than the regular workforce to be killed on the job.
