We had a very special guest in our building this week to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! On September 29th and September 30th, author Matt de la Pena came to Mrs. Krause's and Mrs. Cecil's classrooms. He is the author of the book “Last Stop on Market Street” which won a Newberry Medel (2016), a Caldecott Honor (2016), a Corretta Scott King Illustrator Honor, and received the Notable Children’s book and Best Picture Book of the Century from the New York Times Book Review. This was such a memorable event that these students will never forget. Before he left, he signed copies of his book that each student in these classrooms received. Thank you to the GRPS Office of English Learners and author Matt de la Pena for providing this amazing experience for our scholars!
