We’re looking for a guest speaker for the Hero’s Ball on November 14, 2026.

We’re not necessarily looking for the person with the biggest title or the longest list of accomplishments.

We’re looking for someone with a story that matters.

A story about service.
A story about resilience.
A story about the realities of being a veteran or first responder.
A story about the people who helped you through the hard moments.
A story that reminds others why this community matters.

If you’ve lived it, witnessed it, or walked alongside someone who has—we want to hear from you.

🇺🇸 Do you have a story to share?
🤝 Know someone who does?

Reach out to Hero Services of Western Michigan or tag someone below who you think should be considered.

🇺🇸 Why we do this. 🇺🇸

Hero Services exists to recognize and provide resources to our Veterans, First Responders, and Licensed Healthcare Professionals. Our events are what make that possible, and The Hero's Ball on November 14th at The Ayo Place in Grandville is one of the biggest nights of our year.

When you join us, you're doing more than enjoying a catered dinner, music, and dancing. You're helping fund the Hero Services Relief Fund, which assists Heroes facing financial emergencies, and our Wellness Program, which supports mental health for those who serve.

It's also a night for the Heroes themselves to be recognized, to catch up with people who understand the job, and to feel the pride that comes with service.

🎖️ Dress uniforms encouraged
🍸 Cash bar and cigar bar
🎤 Guest speaker
🎶 Dancing

Come for the celebration, and stay for the community.

Signs You Shouldn't Ignore 💙

Sometimes the people who seem the strongest are the ones carrying the most. Whether it's you, a coworker, a battle buddy, or a family member, pay attention to these signs:
⚠️ Pulling away. Skipping gatherings, going quiet, or isolating from friends and family.
⚠️ Mood changes. Irritability, anger, hopelessness, or seeming "flat" or numb.
⚠️ Sleep and energy changes. Trouble sleeping, nightmares, constant exhaustion, or running on empty.
⚠️ Increased drinking or substance use. Using to cope, numb out, or fall asleep.
⚠️ Losing interest. Dropping hobbies, work, or things that used to bring joy.
⚠️ Talk of hopelessness or being a burden. Comments like "everyone would be better off without me" or giving away belongings. Always take these seriously.

What to do: Don't wait. Check in privately, ask directly how they're doing, and listen without judging. You don't need the perfect words. Showing up is what matters.
📞 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: call or text 988
📞 Veterans Crisis Line: dial 988, then press 1, or text 838255
🚨 Immediate danger: call 911

If you notice the signs, say something. It could change everything. 💙

Hero Services of Western Michigan is growing—and we’re looking for people who want to roll up their sleeves and help us make things happen.

Our mission is simple: support those who serve. 🇺🇸

But making that mission happen takes a team.

We need volunteers for:
🤝 Community outreach
📣 Marketing & social media
🎉 Events
💚 Wellness initiatives
📋 Behind-the-scenes organization
📸 Photography & content
💡 New ideas & projects

You don’t have to know exactly where you fit. Tell us what you enjoy, what you’re good at, or what you’d like to learn—and we’ll find a way to put it to work.

Even a few hours here and there can make a difference.

If you’ve been looking for a way to give back to veterans, first responders, and their families, this is your opportunity.

📩 Message us today to learn more about volunteering with Hero Services of Western Michigan.

Come be part of the team. Come be part of the mission. 🇺🇸💙

🎙️ YOUR STORY COULD BE THE ONE WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

Hero Services of Western Michigan is searching for a guest speaker for the 2026 Hero’s Ball.

We want to hear from someone who can speak honestly about what it means to serve, lead, sacrifice, persevere, or support those who do.

Your story doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be extraordinary.

It just needs to be real.

Maybe you’re a veteran.
Maybe you’re a first responder.
Maybe you’re a family member who has walked alongside one.
Maybe your experience has taught you something about resilience, purpose, or what it truly means to show up for others.

We want to create an evening that celebrates not only the uniform—but the person behind it.

If you’re interested in sharing your story, or know someone who should, send us a message or tag them below.

Let’s find a voice that will leave a lasting impact. ❤️🇺🇸
