Great leadership!

The Michigan Library Association is thrilled to announce the permanent appointment of Dillon Geshel as Executive Director! After a rigorous national search, the Board unanimously chose Geshel, who has provided "thoughtful, steady leadership" as Interim Director since May 2025.

With deep roots in the MI library community—including leadership at Superiorland Library Cooperative and the MI Right to Read initiative—Dillon is perfectly positioned to champion our state's libraries and library professionals. Please join us in congratulating Dillon as he leads MLA into this exciting new chapter!

Public libraries' top check-outs in 2025 include “The Women.”

Genre fiction and female authors top U.S. libraries' most-borrowed lists in 2025 All of the top 10 books borrowed through the public library app Libby were written by women. And Kristin Hannah's The Women was the top checkout in many library systems around the country.
