It's National Rescue Dog Day and you know what that means!! In celebration of allllll of our rescue dogs currently available, it's only $70 to adopt one today! 🩷

Rescuing a dog is more than just an adoption. There are perks 😉 In time, their personality will begin to show. You'll get to learn their goofy quirks. They'll become more and more themselves the longer they live with you, feeling safe and comfortable and taken care of. Nothing beats seeing a dog finally just...relax.

Each rescue dog has their own backstory that shapes them, as do we. If you're ready to provide a warm bed, or ample time in the sun, or nighttime snuggles, or long woodsy hikes to a dog whose been waiting their whole lives for you, we have plenty of them ☺️ And they can't wait to meet you when we open at 1 pm today! ❤

Last week, our County Commissioners toured the shelter to learn about our operations, challenges and successes.

We discussed the role of Animal Shelters and how they have evolved. We're no longer just housing stray animals. We are also:
- Providing public safety support to Animal Control and Law Enforcement
- Offering behavioral support for pet owners
- Coordinating reunification services and fostering
- And more

Here are some year-to-date highlights:
- 459 spay/neuter surgeries
- 692 animals arriving in our care, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds
- Over 4000 pounds of pet food distributed to the community

Luna is here to tell you all about how she is the BESTEST girl, loves to go on long walks (another calm dog can join too, she won’t mind), stay by your side for many pets, talk to you (loves to hear the 4-1-1 or say hey, I actually need to go p*e), takes some solid naps and takes treats so gently. She’s currently our front desk assistant 🫡 because she’s just so hard working. But seriously, she is an easy going lady who will make someone SO happy 💘

Oh and she also wanted to let you know starts TODAY! You can adopt any dog for a reduced fee of $70 - including their spay/nueter, microchip, vaccines and license!

We are open from 1-6 today (Friday) and 10-1 Saturday! Come see us and scoop up these good pups 🐾 Luna looks forward to greeting you at the desk!

We like BIG MUTTS and we cannot lie. 🤪

We have a LARGE assortment of dogs that are over 70 lbs! These dogs have a *wide* variety of ages and temperaments! There is usually a /massive/ demand for dogs of this size (as they make the best snugglers) but somehow, we have ~amassed~ over 10 dogs of this size! 🗣️

This sad-eyed girl is Buttercup 🌼🌸

Buttercup was surrendered to us from a busy home (reportedly growing up with kids of all ages and had lots of people coming and going) due to no fault of her own. Her owners have fallen on hard times and no longer have housing for themselves, or poor Buttercup. 😔 She thrived in her home, but the shelter is a new kind of chaos that she is not used to. 💔

She's anxious, she's nervous, but most of all, she's confused. She's 8 years old and has only ever known one home, and the shelter is NOT like her home. We are having a hard time getting this lady to eat, which means she's also not taking any medication to help her with her anxiety here. 🥺 Buttercup can be a little wary of strangers but give her just a moment and she will quickly approach and nudge you for pets.

Buttercup is not thriving in this environment, she wants to get back into a home and settle back in, she wants to feel secure enough to EAT again. 😮‍💨 She promises to be the best girl. 🫶 Buttercup is a whippet/lab mix, 8 years old, and weighs 75 pounds. She is spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is READY to wiggle her way into your heart and home. 🥰🫂
