We foster economic development by attracting sporting events that improve our citizens' quality of life and elevate the brand of Grand Rapids.

The West Michigan Sports Commission is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) that identifies, secures and hosts a diverse level of youth and amateur sporting events to make a positive impact on the region’s economy and quality of life. Since its inception in 2007, the WMSC has booked over 600 sporting events and tournaments that attracted 1,000,000 athletes and visitors, generating $290 million in direct visitor spending.

⚾️ Game Day USA - Silver Series Championships #1 - June 5-7; Meijer Sports Complex welcomes various youth baseball teams in an exciting weekend of baseball.

🥎 Mary Free Bed Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports Wheelchair Softball Tournament - June 6-7; Mary Free Bed YMCA hosts wheelchair softball this weekend on their accessible field.

🚴 Grand Rapids Triathlon - June 7; Sprint, ride and swim starting in Ada and within the Thornapple River this weekend for the GRTri.

Last weekend, May 30, the MHSAA Track and Field State Finals for the Lower Peninsula took place in West Michigan. Division I athletes competed at Rockford High School, bringing together some of the largest schools in the state to go head to head. We captured some of the action and highlighted a few of our favorite moments.

The pickleball courts are open! Our Winning Streak Expansion, brought 20 pickleball courts to the Meijer Sports Complex. The coating is dry, cured and ready to be played on! The courts are operated by the Rockford Pickleball Club which has announced memberships for their inaugural season. Please visit their website for more information: https://www.rockfordpbclub.com/

⚾️Game Day USA MI Open State Championships (Spring) - May 29-31st; Youth baseball takes over the Meijer Sports Complex in a competitive state championship.

🏃‍♀️‍➡️MHSAA Track & Field State Finals - May 30th; Throughout greater Grand Rapids, athletes will compete for their schools in state finals.

🌊Grand Rapids High School Rowing Invitational - May 30th; The 30th annual GR Rowing Invitational takes on the Grand River at Riverside Park.

🏐MJVBA State Championships - May 30-31st; Youth volleyball takes over the DeVos Place Convention Center to compete in state championships.

Move United, in partnership with The Hartford, is making adaptive equipment and sports more accessible for youth and adults with disabilities!

Having the proper adaptive equipment is a game changer. This grant provides up to $5,000 in adaptive sports equipment to help athletes pursue their goals and reach new heights—on and off the field of play.
