Grand Valley Orchid Society

Today was the first class one of our members taught at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Our communications board member, who has a background in education, taught a two hour beginning orchid class with the assistance of our president. While the official feedback from the gardens is not yet available, all of the initial feedback received has been very positive. Hopefully this will lead to more teaching opportunities in the future!

Don't forget, our April meeting is this week Thursday and we will have an in person guest presentor with goodies for sale. We hope to see a lot of new and familiar faces there!

I would say this months repotting workshop was a smashing success. Thankfully, no pots were broken during the process, but a few overgrown orchids were cut out of their plastic pots!

The vendors and societies with displays at the Greater Lansing Orchid Society show pulled out all the stops. There are do many gorgeous plants to look at and even one or two to buy. Come out and visit out orchid friends!

Now that we have had a little time to recover from the show excitement, if you are a current member and have not paid your dues yet, please make sure you do so. We would like all memberships to be paid before the end of January.

Orchid Show Update: With the inclement weather ahead of us, our show will now be open from 11 AM to 4 PM. Come and see us while we are here.

We can't thank everyone enough for not letting the cold stop you from coming out and enjoying the show. Vendor stock is low, but the displays are fantastic and well worth visiting. The show is open tomorrow as well, so there is still time to see these incredible displays yourself!.

Our show opens tomorrow! The displays are looking absolutely stunning. We are sad to report that some of our vendor friends are unable to make it this year due to the potential storms that would complicate their drives back home. Dr. Bill's Orchid, Little Frog Farm and Oakwood Orchids arrived safely and have some lovely plants on their tables.
