The Grand Rapids Board of Education has taken an important step in its search for the district’s next superintendent, selecting a group of six semifinalists to advance in the process.

The Board’s search firm, Ray & Associates, will conduct virtual screening interviews with semifinalists on Saturday, Oct. 24. Following those interviews, board members will determine which candidates will advance to the finalist stage.

KEY DATES
•October 24: Virtual screening of semifinalists conducted by Ray & Associates
•October 26: Board of Education selects finalists
•October 28: Superintendent finalists tour the district and meet with stakeholders. The Board of Education conducts final interviews and selects the next superintendent.

GRPS middle school athletes left it all on the court at Saturday’s 14-team double-elimination tournament. After eight hours of competition and exciting matches across four courts, it all came down to the championship battle between City 1 and UPREP 1.

Congratulations to all of our scholar-athletes for showcasing incredible teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, and talent.

A commitment to supporting scholars and families is taking Leandra Pogson's work to the state stage.

Pogson was recently appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to serve on the Michigan Developmental Disability Council. The appointment recognizes Pogson's dedication to advocacy and service, values that also guide her daily work at GRPS.
