This Estate Planning Awareness Week, we’re celebrating two remarkable legacies: the generosity of our Homes & Hope Legacy Society and the retirement of our Planned Giving Specialist, Hank.

After 35 years in fundraising Hank is stepping into retirement, and we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for his faithful leadership, generosity, and dedication to helping others create lasting impact.

Through his work, Hank has encouraged families and supporters to think beyond today and consider the legacy they leave for future generations. He reminds us that a legacy is more than a gift in a will. It’s the values we pass on, the relationships we nurture, and the communities we help build.

And to the members of our Homes & Hope community who have included ICCF Community Homes in their estate plans: thank you for your enduring faithfulness and vision for the future.

In September, ICCF Community Homes held our annual Homeowner Celebration, one of our favorite nights of the year! This event honors the extraordinary work of new homeowners reaching their housing goals and the partners who helped make the journey possible.

With 33,500 new homes needed in Kent County by 2030, ICCF Community Homes has been hard at work! Here’s a sneak peak of our housing pipeline:

4 new affordable homes in Wyoming, MI
2 single-family homes along Logan Street
2 duplex homes along Lafayette Avenue

Please note: these homes are in development and coming soon! The homes will be sold to income-qualifying buyers through ICCF’s Community Homes Land Trust.

At ICCF Community Homes we believe that connected neighbors make for thriving communities! It’s our goal for every resident to find a place of belonging and have the opportunity to reach their personal goals.

We’re thankful for resources like THE PLAYGROUNDgr who share this vision. At a recent resident engagement event, some of our youngest neighbors played games that taught each participant how breathing exercises can signal safety to the brain and body to restore mind-body balance.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Homes & Hope Legacy Luncheon. We gathered with Legacy Society members and supporters for an afternoon of fellowship, reflection, and gratitude, highlighted by inspiring remarks from Ryan VerWys, Rev. Ericka White, and Hank Kroondyk as he shared reflections from his years of service at ICCF.

The afternoon concluded with a tour of Tate & Thomas Apartments, ICCF’s newest affordable housing community, where guests learned about the site’s history, neighborhood roots, and vision for creating homes and hope for generations to come.
