The one person one vote, mantra used for erasing the legislature falls short of the American Constitutional foundation of equal representation.
However, that's why we have conversations.
In a Democracy a majority always wins over the minority within the context of qualified boundaries. And qualified boundaries of equal numbered people do not violate the one person one vote rule. Sims 1964.
in argument fail to address the democratic majority vote taken in each district that chooses the Legislature.
Or give appropriate regard for the democratic majority State wide decision that elected the Executive officers.
Your conversation at first seems reasonable, but your points are generic and self serving, trope filled and willingly ignorant, of what equal representation actually means in practice of American justice.
The law already stipulates Senate and House maps in Missouri are not subject to referendum.
That's a vote measure that solicits and requires acceptance of the Legislature by the mass majority throughout the State as already decided.
Including a calculation of direct vote majorities in equal population districts of any sized number, drawn by anyone, in absence of the Legislature is more fair than excluding them.
Voters Statewide in simple majority should not be able to overrule a simple majority of voters in 6 out of 8 equal population numbered Congressional districts when changing the Constitution, is the whole of my reasonable argument.
