What a weekend! We are so grateful to everyone in our community who came out to support this event, cheer on our competitors, and help make our first year a success!

A huge congratulations to all of our competitors, and especially Take It Easy BBQ for taking home the Grand Prize! 🏆

We’ve already started talking about next year and how we can make this event even bigger and better. We can’t wait to see what year two brings!

What a night! 🔥

Thank you to everyone who came out for our first Sizzlin’ on 66 BBQ Competition! We loved seeing so many people out in The District supporting our competitors and enjoying the night.

And a HUGE congratulations to our winners! 🏆 Back the Blue BBQ took home 1st place in Amateur Night!

Thank you to all of our competitors for firing up the grills and making our first night, one to remember.

We’re not done yet — we’ll see you back in The District tomorrow for another full day of Sizzlin’ on 66!

Today is the day! 🔥 Sizzlin’ on 66 kicks off in downtown Granite City!

Come out for the BBQ competition, live music, food trucks, raffles, and everything happening in The District.

This weekend is also part of the Last 100 Miles of the Mother Road Route 66 celebration with Great Rivers & Routes! If you’re traveling through the participating Route 66 communities, be sure to stop in Granite City and pick up our collectible card featuring the Route 66 Neon Sign Park.

Each participating community has its own card, so collect them as you travel the route and take home a fun keepsake from the weekend.

Sizzlin’ on 66 is almost here! 🔥
Join us in The District at Granite City on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10 for a full weekend of BBQ, live music, food trucks, raffles, and more.

A few things before you come:
🪑 Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for the live music.
🛍️ Take some time to check out the local businesses and restaurants throughout downtown Granite City.
🍔 Food trucks will be on site both days, with plenty of nearby places to grab something to eat or drink.
🎟️ Stop by the raffle booth while you’re there.
🔥 The BBQ being prepared for competition judging will not be available for purchase.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
🔥 Amateur Pork Steak Showdown
Come cheer on our hometown competitors as they compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies. If the winner scores higher than the Mayor, they’ll also receive a Beat the Mayor trophy and be recognized at City Hall.
🍕 Special Guest Pizzababble will be there judging the 1 Bite Challenge.

The Gusto Band — 6–10 p.m. at the Civic Park Main Stage

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
🔥 The Professional BBQ Competition takes over with competitors cooking chicken, ribs, pork and beef brisket, with $5,000 in payouts on the line.

Think you can Beat the Mayor’s BBQ? 🔥

Friday night’s Amateur BBQ Competition at Sizzlin’ on 66 is made possible by Great Rivers & Routes — and there are some extra bragging rights on the line.

If the winning competitor scores higher than the Mayor, they’ll take home a trophy and be officially recognized at City Hall.

Festivities start at 4 p.m. Friday, so come downtown, cheer on our hometown competitors, and see who can beat the Mayor’s BBQ!

Coming downtown for Sizzlin’ on 66 this weekend? The event opens to the public around 4 p.m. Friday, and we’ve got your food, parking, and festival stops covered.

While the BBQ being prepared for the competition is for judging only and will not be available for purchase, there will still be plenty of food options during the event.

Food trucks will also be on site throughout the weekend:

🍔Friday: Shelly's Smashburgers + Heaterz
🔥Saturday: Big Meechie’s + Heaterz

There are also several local Granite City restaurants and businesses nearby to check out while you’re downtown.

Meet Mike, another Granite City hometown competitor taking on the Amateur BBQ Competition at Sizzlin’ on 66 this Friday! 🔥

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. in The District at Granite City, with live music from Craig & Amy and The Gusto Band throughout the evening. BBQ judging is expected around 8 p.m., so come out and cheer on Mike and the rest of our local competitors!

There will also be raffles plus food trucks from Shelly’s Smashburgers and Heaterz Chicken.

WHAT A SEASON, GRANITE CITY!

As the final notes fade on the 2026 Civic Park Concert Series, we can’t help but look back with full hearts at what an incredible summer of music, friendship, and community we shared.

From June through September, Wednesday nights in Civic Park became something special. Week after week, talented musicians took the stage and gave us shows to remember. The music filled the park, friends gathered, families brought their lawn chairs, and our faithful Wednesday Night Warriors showed up to support live music and our community.

To every band and musician who stepped onto the Civic Park stage—thank you for sharing your incredible talent with Granite City.

To our generous sponsors—this concert series would not be possible without you. Your support of live music and our community helped make each Wednesday night happen, and we are truly grateful.

And to our concertgoers, music lovers, and Wednesday Night Warriors—YOU are the heart of this series. Thank you for filling Civic Park with smiles, laughter, friendship, dancing, and memories all summer long.

Then came our season finale—and what a magical ending it was!

The Dave Mendoza Band, joined by special guest singers Dan and Sammy Mendoza, gave Granite City a finale we will not soon forget. Looking out and seeing Civic Park filled with people, with music lovers lining the sidewalks and enjoying one last Wednesday night together, was truly a sight to behold.

There is something special about live music under the summer sky. But there is something even more special about a community that continues to show up for one another.

Thank you, Granite City, for another unforgettable season. Until we meet again, keep supporting live music, keep supporting our community, and keep those Wednesday night memories close.

The music returns Wednesday, June 2, 2027!

We can’t wait to see our Wednesday Night Warriors back in Civic Park for another magical summer of music!
