🚨 TEXAS DEMOCRATS TAKE REFUGE IN ILLINOIS 🚨

This weekend, dozens of courageous Texas House Democrats took bold action to stop a dangerous, undemocratic redistricting power grab in their home state. Rather than enable a Republican-led, Trump-fueled effort to gerrymander Texas for partisan gain, they left the state, seeking safe haven right here in Illinois.

Governor JB Pritzker has stood with them publicly while also helping to coordinate vital logistical support.

Thanks to Pritzker’s support through his family's Hyatt hotel chain, the Texas Democrats now have a place to stay and organize, without fear of retaliation.

While Texas Governor Abbott is making threats and invoking Trump’s cult tactics, Illinois is offering solidarity and sanctuary.

We applaud Governor Pritzker for showing true leadership by refusing to let authoritarianism take root unchallenged. This is what defending democracy looks like.

On this day in 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law. This proved to be a historic step towards ensuring health care for seniors, low-income families, and people with disabilities.

These programs have saved lives, lifted millions out of poverty, and affirmed the basic truth that healthcare is a human right.

He doesn’t represent any of the Tri-Cities area, thankfully but this kind of unabashed falling in line behind the dear leader is simply unacceptable from an elected official.

And remember, Democrats are calling for the entire list and the entire file to be released, and saying shame on whomever is listed therein. There is no R bashing going on, it isn’t a witch hunt, we want the truth for everyone.

🚨 Madison County Board Member Paul Nicolussi recently mocked calls for transparency in the Epstein case, dismissing concerns about justice for survivors as “TDS” and “crap.”

Mr. Nicolussi, dismissing this as “TDS” misses the bigger picture entirely. This is about justice for victims of one of the most horrific s*x trafficking operations in recent history. Survivors deserve answers and the public deserves the truth.

No one is claiming that Biden or Trump could unilaterally declassify sealed court documents. That’s not how it works. But now that the Epstein investigation is officially closed, there is a legal pathway through the courts for more of these documents to be released. House Democrats are pushing for transparency within that legal process.

If an elected official in Madison County can’t see why residents, especially women and survivors, want to know which powerful people were protected, well, that’s not leadership. That’s recalcitrant complacency.
