A new Missouri Economy Indicators: Warehousing and Storage Employment brief shows Missouri's warehousing and storage sector grew 29% from 2020 to 2025, reaching more than 27,300 jobs across 523 businesses. Growth was led by large general warehousing facilities, while employment in specialized storage more than doubled over the same period.
Warehousing jobs are concentrated along Missouri's major logistics corridors. St. Charles County leads the state with about 5,800 jobs, followed by Cass County (3,300) and Greene County (2,900). In rural Missouri, Phelps County and Randolph County have the highest concentrations of warehousing employment relative to their local economies, highlighting the sector's importance across both urban and nonmetro communities.
As demand for freight movement and storage continues to grow, investments in warehousing, cold storage and transportation infrastructure could help Missouri businesses reach new markets, strengthen supply chains and support economic growth statewide.
