Elect Colene Martin

My morning pondering… ☕

Do you feel political change coming to Oregon? Do you feel the shift in Josephine County’s leadership? I do!

Compared to the turmoil of 2025, 2026 has felt like a breath of fresh air. That doesn’t mean the work has been easy. We’ve been rebuilding departments, restoring stability, working on finances, and getting back to the business of serving you.

We’ve come too far this year to go backward. Let’s keep moving Josephine County forward—with steady leadership, common sense, and less drama.

I appreciate your trust, your support, and your vote. 🇺🇸

Great playing……. Grants Pass Cavemen beat the South Medford Panthers 54–14 last night.
Good luck to the Grants Pass High School Marching Band and Color Guard in November.
Love watching their 1/2 time performance. What a production.

Big weekend agenda.
Friday night High School Football game,
Saturday, door knocking with flyers, let me know if you want to help me canvas a neighborhood.

🗳️ Ballots should be arriving this week!

You know those election texts and phone calls that start coming about now? Voting early may help reduce them once your returned ballot is recorded—although it won’t necessarily stop them all!

Sit down with your family, talk through the choices, and think about the direction you want Josephine County to go.

Compare the local headlines from October 2025 with October 2026. I believe you’ll see how much progress we’ve made toward restoring stability, rebuilding trust, and moving our county forward. There’s more work ahead, and I want to keep that progress going.

Please make your voice heard—and remember to sign your ballot envelope! 🇺🇸

Thank you to Terry Hopkins with the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce and Edith Decker with the Grants Pass Daily Courier for hosting tonight’s Candidate Forum.

Thank you also to everyone who attended in person or watched from “screen-land”! Great questions and an opportunity for voters to hear directly from the candidates.

Today, October 13, is the last day to register to vote or update your registration for the November 3 general election.

This ballot carries real weight for Josephine County. Oregonians will choose our next Governor, U.S. Senator, Congressman, and members of the Oregon Legislature who shape the decisions made in Salem. Closer to home, you will also decide who serves on your local City Council and Josephine County Board of Commissioners.

Since February, my fellow commissioners and I have been working through the challenges left behind by years of turmoil, putting county operations and essential services back on solid ground one decision at a time. Our county can’t afford to repeat the mistakes of the past, and I would be honored to earn your vote so we can keep moving the place we all love forward.

If you are not yet registered, have moved recently, or need to update your information, you can take care of it online in just a few minutes at oregonvotes.gov before midnight tonight. Ballots will be arriving in mailboxes soon, so make sure yours is headed to the right address!

On this day in 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the New World.

On November 3, 2026, Josephine County voters have a much shorter trip—to the ballot box!
Let’s make a little local history by electing Colene Martin to a full four-year term as Josephine County Commissioner.

Together, we can keep Josephine County on a steady course—no compass required!
