🟣 Domestic Violence Awareness Month 🟣

During the month of October, members of the Granville Police Department are wearing our Domestic Violence Awareness patch in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in support of those affected by domestic violence.

The purple ribbon is a symbol of support for survivors, remembrance for those whose lives have been lost, and a continued commitment to ending domestic violence. This patch is a visible reminder that domestic violence can affect individuals, families, and communities everywhere.

Domestic violence is not always physical. It can include intimidation, threats, isolation, financial control, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, digital monitoring, or other controlling behavior.

By wearing this emblem, our officers stand with survivors and reaffirm our commitment to helping those in unsafe situations, holding those who cause harm accountable, and connecting people with resources and support.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. If it is safe to do so, you can contact:

• SafeLink, Massachusetts’ statewide 24/7 domestic violence hotline: 877-785-2020
• YWCA of Western Massachusetts 24-Hour Hotline: 413-733-7100 or 800-796-8711
• Statewide Spanish-language hotline: 800-223-5001
• National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800-799-7233
• Text START to 88788
• In an emergency or immediate danger, call 911

If you believe your phone, internet, or computer use may be monitored, consider using a safer device if possible.

No one should have to face abuse alone. Support is available, and a confidential conversation can be a first step toward safety.

Additional local resources are available on the Granville Police Department’s Domestic Violence Resources page.

🟣 Su***de Prevention Awareness Month 🔵

During the month of September, members of the Granville Police Department wear our Su***de Prevention Awareness patch.

The design incorporates the teal and purple ribbon, the heartbeat line, and the semicolon — symbols that represent life, survival, hope, and the ongoing fight against the stigma surrounding mental health. Our patch carries a simple but powerful message: “You Are Not Alone.”

Su***de affects more than just the individual. It impacts friends, families, and entire communities. By wearing this emblem, our officers stand in solidarity with everyone who has been affected by su***de, including survivors of su***de loss, those who are struggling, and those who advocate for prevention and awareness.

We want our community to know that help exists, support is available, and every life has value.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, help is available. Call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

📷 A special thank you to Ghost Patch for their work in helping bring this patch design to life.

The Granville Police Department would like to thank the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association (USDSA) for their continued support of our department and community.

Through USDSA’s Safety Equipment Program, the department recently received a 14-by-24-inch rifle-rated ballistic mini shield. This shield will provide our officers with an additional level of protection during active-threat incidents, armed-person calls, high-risk responses, rescues, and other situations where ballistic protection may be necessary.

For a small, rural department like Granville, equipment like this can make a significant difference. Our officers may be among the first law-enforcement personnel to arrive at a critical incident and may need to act while additional resources are still responding.

This is not the first time USDSA has supported Granville. A FLIR thermal imaging device previously donated to the department has proven to be an extremely valuable piece of equipment and has served its purpose on multiple occasions.

Pictured is Detective John Stone with the department’s newly received ballistic shield.

We sincerely appreciate USDSA and its supporters for helping provide law-enforcement agencies with equipment that directly enhances officer and community safety.

Thank you, USDSA, for your continued support of the Granville Police Department.
