Grapevine Middle School PTA GMS PTA supports our teachers & students!

What is a PTA? The Parent Teacher Association or PTA began when two women decided that the children of America needed a voice. Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst sent out a call to action and anticipated that maybe 200 mothers would respond. However, on February 17, 1897, more than 2000 mothers, fathers, teachers, workers, and politicians gathered for the very first PTA meeting. After setting by-laws and marking out areas that needed to be addressed, the group began its quest for children’s safety, health, and productive futures. Other programs started by the founders of the PTA include:

* The hot lunch program
* A public health program
* Mandatory immunizations for school children
* Physical education classes in public schools
* Sex education for pre-teens
* Increased wages for teachers

Today the PTA continues its fight for children health, safety, and education in our local schools and communities, in the political arena, and throughout the world. PTA members help parents learn the skills they need to raise happy confident children. There are local PTA programs in every level of the public school system; including pre-schools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools as well as special education schools and programs. All of which work tirelessly to bring home and school closer together, so that parents can take an active roll in their children's education and future.

HAPPY NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH, MR. CASSADA!

October is National Principals Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the incredible school leaders who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of students, teachers, staff, and families every single day!

Being a principal is so much more than managing a school. It's about leading with purpose, inspiring students, supporting teachers, building relationships, and creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed. It's about showing up, making tough decisions, celebrating achievements, and being a steady source of encouragement through it all.This month, GMS PTA is proud to recognize our very own Mr. Cassada!

Mr. Cassada, thank you for your leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Grapevine Middle School community. Your role makes a difference far beyond the walls of our classrooms, helping shape the experiences, opportunities, and futures of our Ponies.

Today, GMS PTA celebrates the incredible teachers who show up every day ready to teach, encourage, inspire, challenge, and believe in our students. ❤️

Behind every lesson plan, every encouraging word, every extra minute after class, and every “You’ve got this!” is a teacher making a difference, often in ways they may never fully realize.

To our amazing Grapevine Middle School teachers: THANK YOU for the patience, dedication, creativity, and heart you pour into our students each and every day. 🐴📚
