🚌 It's National School Bus Safety Week and the Gravette School District Transportation Office hosted its annual coloring contest. This exercise lets students combine artistic expression with bus safety awareness. This year's national theme, "Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes," emphasizes the heroic act of following the rules and staying safe. Gravette bus drivers reviewed the entries and selected one winner per grade, with each selected student earning a gift bag filled with coloring supplies, a portable travel case, and a new coloring book.

🎨 Lily (Kindergarten)
Lily colored her bus with a yellow frame and red front grille, paired with a superhero wearing a light pink cape, yellow shirt, and magenta pants. Hand-drawn green grass adds a finishing touch.
🎨 Leighton (1st Grade)
Leighton gave the yellow bus red accents and created a superhero with a light purple-pink cape, light pink legs, and blue boot details against a white background.
🎨 Ezra (2nd Grade)
Ezra added an original American flag on a flagpole beside the superhero. Purple and blue sky shading and green ground surround the hero, who wears a red cape, yellow top, and blue pants and boots.
At home, families can help children practice the SAFE routine every morning:
1) Stay at least ten feet—five giant steps—away from the curb.
2) Always wait for the bus to stop completely and the bus driver to signal it’s safe to board.
3) Face forward after finding a seat on the bus.
4) Exit the bus after it stops, wait for the bus driver to signal it’s safe to cross, and then look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street in front of the bus, never behind.
Congratulations to Lily, Leighton, and Ezra! Thank you to our Glenn A. Duffy Elementary families for practicing bus safety habits and supporting our transportation team every day. 🦁🧡
