PROPERTY TAX NOTICE

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office will begin accepting 2026 Property Tax Bills on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

2% DISCOUNT

Property taxes paid by October 31, 2026 will receive a 2% discount.

Please make sure your payment is received by the deadline to receive the discount.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Department is now accepting applications for Patrol Deputies and Court Security Officers now through September 11 2026. Applications can be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office Monday through Friday between 8:30am - 4:30pm.

We have received notice that the public is getting phone calls from individuals asking for you to purchase gift cards and provide them with the information from the card to redeem. This is a scam!!

Attention Scam Calls!!!! We have had numerous reports from citizens who are receiving phone calls from someone stating they are with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and they have a warrant for not appearing for jury duty. These are scam calls the Sheriff’s Department will not call you over any matter!

As of April 1st through April 15th Carter County Sheriff’s Office will not be accepting personal checks for property tax payments. We will be accepting cash, money orders, cashiers checks, debit or credit cards. We apologize for any inconvenience.
