Happy International Day of the Air Traffic Controller!

Whether we’re guiding aircraft through Montana’s beautiful skies, sequencing arrivals and departures, or working through challenging weather, every clearance, every instruction, and every decision matters.

Today, we celebrate the incredible men and women who make this profession what it is. The early mornings, late nights, busy traffic pushes, and teamwork that keep our operation running safely and efficiently.

To our fellow controllers across the country and around the world, happy International Day of the Air Traffic Controller!

Starting a new thing at work because why not? Give me your more unhinged questions to ask! (And yes I’m fully aware a turtle without its shell is a dead one.) 🐢🪦

We’ve been busy little bees lately! In case you’ve missed it, we’ve had some pretty neat planes hanging around. NASA’s ER-2, Omega Tankers (DC10s), and an MG17 just to name a few. Also got a few photos of our local Marchetti, and CAP coming to visit. We love to see it! 💕

*A few of the nicer photos of the MG17 and CAP are credited to Ryan Lorio, thanks for sharing!!*

FYI! 👇

Re-Viva Las Vegas! 🎰✈️ As Elvis might say…

Great news for Great Falls: Allegiant Air is relaunching nonstop service from Great Falls to Las Vegas beginning March 5, 2027! www.allegiantair.com

But there’s a catch — we need to fill these airplanes.

Ridership on both the Las Vegas and Mesa/Phoenix routes has declined significantly over the past 18 months. Our Canadian friends have been a tremendous source of support for these flights since Allegiant first launched them, but cross-border travel has dropped dramatically.

Now we need Great Falls and north-central Montana to step up. If you’ve been thinking about a weekend in Vegas, a winter getaway, visiting family, or just getting out of town for a few days, consider flying Allegiant from GTF.

Every local passenger helps demonstrate that these flights are valuable to our community.

These nonstop flights are an amenity we don't want to lose.

Let's show Allegiant that Great Falls wants Las Vegas service — and wants to keep it.

🎰 Las Vegas starts March 5, 2027.

✈️ Buy local and Fly local Great Falls!

And if you know someone who would use this flight, share this post!

📍Find me at Oshkosh! ✈️

If you’re headed to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this upcoming week, make sure you stop by the NATCA booth! I’ll be there Tuesday through Sunday, and on Thursday from 12:30–1:45 p.m. I’ll be helping with the ATC & You: High Terrain, Higher Stakes presentation.

Come say hello, ask questions about ATC, snap a photo, or just talk airplanes for a few minutes. I’d love to meet some of the amazing people who follow our page!

See you in Oshkosh! 💙✈️

Saw a cool little retro throwback livery today! According to Google, “this aircraft features the 1970s “Friend Ship” livery—affectionately known as “Stars and Bars”—which sports bright red and blue cheatlines and four blue stars on the tail.” And it’s the only retrojet they operate in their main fleet!
