WINTER WEATHER ALERTS UPDATE: Portions of western and central Montana are now under either a WINTER STORM WARNING or a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY from Saturday afternoon/evening (10/10/26) through Monday morning (10/12/26).
A significant fall snowstorm is expected to impact the state this weekend. For locations under a WINTER STORM WARNING, 5-10" of snow is expected in the lower elevations, while 6-12+" of snow is expected in the mountains. Along the southern Rocky Mountain Front, 10-20" of snow is expected
For locations under a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY, 1-5" of snow is expected in the lower elevations, while 3-12" of snow is expected in the mountains.
Winds may gust as high as 30-45 mph, creating areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.
The Absaroka/Beartooth mountains and the Crazy mountains remain under a WINTER STORM WATCH for the same time period as 12+" of snow is expected
Travel is likely to become difficult, especially at and above mountain pass level. If possible, avoid travel across mountain passes that are under these alerts from Saturday night through Monday morning, and be prepared for winter driving conditions if you must travel.
