The City’s Stormwater Division recently completed improvements to a detention pond at Boomerang Links Golf Course, restoring drainage and helping protect the site.

The project removed vegetation and debris and added features to capture sediment, reduce erosion and support long-term maintenance—part of the division’s ongoing work to manage City drainage, reduce flood impacts, and protect stormwater quality.

A key feature shown here is a stormwater forebay: a small basin at the entrance to a larger detention pond that captures sediment, debris and grit before runoff reaches the main pond. This helps protect water quality, preserve storage capacity and make maintenance more efficient.

Heads up, Greeley: Mailings offering “free” water test kits or in-home water testing visits are NOT from Greeley’s Water & Sewer Department.

These solicitations use misleading test results to encourage residents to purchase costly water treatment systems. Greeley’s drinking water meets all state and federal standards, is tested daily, and is reported annually.

Due to ongoing drought conditions and limited water availability in the irrigation canals, one of the ditches that provides non-potable water to city landscapes is turning off earlier than normal this year. Some parks will receive less frequent watering to best manage infrastructure and resources while maintaining the health of landscapes.
