Dangers while driving alcohol use, not wearing seat belts, distracted driving, speeding, and having passengers. Here are some important road rules:
Drinking under 21 is illegal everywhere. Alcohol and driving should never mix, regardless of age. Remember, drugsโwhether illegal, prescription, or over-the-counterโcan also impair your driving and lead to fatal outcomes.
Before driving, ensure everyone is buckled up correctly in both the front and back seats.
Never text, call, or use apps while driving. Other distractions include passengers, adjusting audio or climate controls, and eating or drinking.
Speeding is a serious issue, especially for inexperienced teen drivers. The faster you drive, the longer it takes to stop.
More passengers increase the risk of a crash. Many states have laws for new teen drivers about how many passengers can ride with them.
