🚧 Oversize/Overweight (OS/OW) Permit Holders🚧

Oversize/Overweight (OS/OW) permit holders traveling the I-41 corridor between Grand Chute and De Pere should plan ahead for active construction zones. High-attention areas include locations with narrowed lanes, reduced shoulders, lane shifts, temporary barrier walls, active workers and equipment, and changing traffic patterns.

Loads with width, height, length, or other overhangs should use extra caution, as narrowed lanes combined with wider loads require additional preparation and attention. Review route options in advance and be aware of work zone signs, speed limits, and flagging operations.

🚧 Southbound I-41 Ramp Closures at County U 🚧

The southbound I-41 on- and off-ramps at County U, near Wrightstown, will be closed beginning Monday, October 5, until Thursday, October 8.

In addition, the following closures remain in the area:
▪️ West Frontage Rd between Wrightstown Rd and County U closed through early Nov
▪️ French Rd between County DDD and Apple Creek Rd closed through mid-Nov

🚧 Investing in Tomorrow’s Workforce 🚧

The I 41 Project team recently welcomed students from Fox Valley Technical College for an up-close look at active construction sites along the corridor.

During the visit, students connected with engineers and project specialists to learn about transportation construction, day-to-day field responsibilities, and the many career paths available in the industry.

🚧 Project Progress – WIS 96 Interchange 🚧

Check out the progress in the WIS 96 interchange area in the town of Grand Chute! Crews are reconstructing the northbound I-41 on-ramp. The mainline work in the area also includes a reconstructed bridge over the Fox Valley and Lake Superior Railroad. The northbound ramp is scheduled to open to traffic later this fall.

🚧 Ramp Closures – WIS 441/County OO 🚧

Crews are widening WIS 441 at County OO to build the new system interchange connecting WIS 441 and I-41 in Appleton.

As a result, drivers may encounter overnight lane and ramp closures in this section, including the WIS 441/County OO ramps, while work continues.

🚧 Upcoming Ramp Closure – Scheuring Road 🚧

The southbound I-41 on-ramp from Scheuring Road (County F) will close for 30 days starting Monday, September 21. Crews will be working on an auxiliary lane to the new Southbridge Road interchange in Brown County, which will open later this fall.

🚧 Major improvements are coming to I-41 between Appleton and De Pere. The $1.2 billion expansion project will widen 23 miles of interstate from four lanes to six while rebuilding interchanges, bridges, and overpasses along the corridor.

The French Road bridge over I-41 in Appleton is now open to traffic! Crews reconstructed the overpass this year to create a wider, safer roadway for all users.

🚧 Now Closed – West Frontage Road 🚧

West Frontage Road between Wrightstown Road and County U near Wrightstown is now closed through fall 2026.

Crews are making progress in the area on the reconstruction of the County U interchange. French Road between County DDD and Apple Creek Road also remains closed through the fall.
