This week is Fire Prevention Week and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is highlighting safe charging! Here are some tips on charging safely in your home or business:

🔌Use the cord and charger that came with your device or ones approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

📱Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Leaving it plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and stress on the battery.

🚲Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

✈️When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.

This week you may notice a little smoke behind station #1.

We have the opportunity to utilize Fire Behavior Lab from the Ohio Fire Academy. It provides us with a controlled environment to observe fire dynamics firsthand, reinforcing how fire develops, spreads, and reacts to ventilation and changing conditions. This type of hands-on training allows our crews to better understand what they may encounter during real world structure fires.

Thank you to the Ohio Fire Academy for their instruction and helping us to continue developing the skills needed to operate safely and effectively on the fireground.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, a day that changed our nation and the world forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost. We remember the brave men and women who risked and gave their lives to save others.

We honor their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We will never forget.

From all of us at the Green Fire Department, we stand together with our fellow first responders and our community in remembering those who gave everything in service to others.

Thank you to Green High School and the Green High School Air Force JROTC as well as Mission BBQ for their 9/11 ceremonies.

Honor. Remember. Never Forget.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
As we reflect on this day, may we never forget the strength, resilience, and unity of our country. We remember those we lost, stand with their families, and express our deepest gratitude to all who continue to serve and protect our communities.
We will never forget.

This week our crews have been training in trench rescue operations. When a trench collapses, conditions can become life-threatening in seconds.

During this training, we learn and practice the skills and procedures necessary to safely operate around a collapsed trench, including scene size-up, establishing a safe perimeter, trench shoring, accessing the victim, and coordinating a rescue operation.
