Greene Volunteer Fire Department

We enjoyed having the kindergartners at the station on Tuesday to discuss fire safety and fire prevention. Today, along with Allison Fire and Butler County Dispatchers, we visited the North Butler Elementary to discuss what information is needed when calling 911!!

With Fire Prevention Week kicking off on Sunday the 4th, we will once again be hosting the North Butler Kindergarten students at the station. Students will be at our station on Tuesday the 6th at 1:00. Students will watch a short fire safety video, checkout the fire gear, spray some water and go for a ride through town. The kids love seeing you along the street. So if you would like to help make this day special for them, we will make a loop around the 2 blocks of the business district (Post Office-MAJEWSKI’s)around 1:45-2:00.

Wednesday we will be at the North Butler Elementary in the afternoon for a short program with the students as well.

Words cannot express how amazing this community is! We served just over 350 meals tonight and took in just shy of $12,000 in donations. Not to mention all of the food was donated as well.
Huge thank you goes out to: West Forty for helping with the food supplies as well as hand pressing all of the hamburgers, Greene Recorder for helping with the advertising, Butler County Dairy Promoters for the malt machines, the families of the department members (wives, children, grandkids, & girlfriends), all the department members, and of course everyone that ventured out to be with us tonight! We will see you all again next year.

It’s hard to believe that next weekend is the 4th of July. We will be having our annual Supper at the Station on Saturday The 4th from 5-7. Hamburgers, brats, hotdogs, beans, chips and of course ice cream.
All proceeds will go towards replacing our self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
These packs are used for all types of responses from: carbon monoxide calls, structure fires, vehicle fires, and hazardous materials calls. They supply our firefighters with fresh clean breathable air when the atmosphere they are working in is dangerous.
Hope to see you all on Saturday!
