As many of you know, units from GCFR E9, E10, E11, E12, Batt1, T9, P9, T11, Walker Church T8, T802, T3, T5, Greensboro L1, Putnam County T30, GCEMS M13, EMS1, Putnam Fire B1, and Greensboro 111 responded to a commercial structure fire at Reynolds Landing Clubhouse. A huge thank you as well to GC 911 for your dedication handling the radio traffic and all responding agencies!

E9 arrived on scene within approximately five minutes to find a heavily involved structure measuring approximately 20,000 square feet. Crews immediately began fire suppression efforts, deploying a deck gun and a 2.5-inch handline to attack the fire. E10 established a water supply by laying a supply line, while E12 connected to the fire department connection (FDC).

Challenging wind conditions made firefighting efforts even more difficult. Despite these challenges, all crews worked tirelessly, with very few breaks, to contain the fire to the structure and prevent further spread.

👏 Also a HUGE THANK YOU to Oconee County Fire Rescue for providing coverage at Station 12 and sending additional personnel to the scene to help relieve our crews. Your assistance and support were greatly appreciated!

We also want to recognize the Reynolds staff for their outstanding actions in evacuating all patrons and ensuring all rooms were cleared before exiting the building. Your quick thinking and commitment to safety made a difference!

Crews remain on scene working to extinguish remaining hotspots. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this time.

We are incredibly grateful for the hard work, dedication, and teamwork demonstrated by every department and responder involved. We also thank our community for the continued support.

We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

🙏 Please keep all responding personnel in your thoughts as they continue working on scene. Stay safe, everyone! 🙏🤙🏼

Our hearts are heavy as we stand with our brothers and sisters of the Durham Fire Department as they face the unimaginable loss of one of their own. Please keep their department, the firefighter’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

From all of us at Greene County Fire Rescue, we stand with you. ❤️🖤🙏

We are heartbroken to share that Firefighter Andrew Brokes died in the line of duty this morning while searching for victims inside the building at 410 Marly Drive.

Firefighter Brokes, who joined the Durham Fire Department on May 5, 2025, served the Durham community with dedication, courage, and a deep commitment to the residents of the Bull City.

“This is a heartbreaking loss for our department, the family, and the entire community,” said Durham Fire Chief Robert J. Zoldos II. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and his colleagues, and we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this unimaginably difficult time. The department is standing with and supporting his family in every possible way.”

Two other firefighters were injured during the incident and were taken to Duke Medical Center. Both have received care and are expected to make full recoveries.

This loss is felt across our entire department. Firefighters step into unpredictable situations every day in service to others, and Firefighter Brokes embodied that calling with honor.

We know our community is grieving alongside us. If you wish to share your condolences or messages of support, they will be received with gratitude by our department and by those who knew and loved Firefighter Brokes.

In the coming days, we will share more information about how we will honor his service and support the firefighters involved in this incident.

Thank you, Durham, for surrounding our DFD family with care during this profoundly difficult time.

🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation.

Today, 25 years later, Greene County Fire Rescue remembers the 2,977 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to save others. We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and everyday Americans who showed the world what courage, sacrifice, and unity truly look like. May we never forget the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who gave everything that day and in the years that followed.

God bless our first responders. God bless our military. And God bless the United States of America. ❤️🇺🇸💙 🤙🏼
