Dog owners, we need to talk!

If you own a dog, make sure that dog is secured.

We’re getting concerned about the number of dogs roaming through neighborhoods, running loose in the streets then ending up in other citizens yards.

Just because your dog is friendly to YOU doesn't mean everybody else knows that. We need everyone to understand something: Everybody is not comfortable around dogs.

People should be able to walk down the street or let their children play outside or enjoy their own property without having to worry about somebody else's dog running up on them.

We can do better than this.

If you have a dog:
- Check your fence
- Check your gate
- Make sure your dog can't get out
If you know your dog has a habit of getting loose…it's on YOU to get that situation handled.

And while we're at it…make sure these animals have:
- Proper food
- Clean water
- and shelter
Being a responsible pet owner means taking care of the animal AND being mindful of the people around you.

Let us also be clear: Concerns about roaming dogs can be referred to the appropriate authorities for review and action under applicable laws and ordinances.

We're not trying to make things difficult for anyone.

We just want our neighborhoods safe, our residents comfortable, and our animals properly cared for.

Please keep your dogs secured, respect your neighbors, and stop letting these animals roam the streets.

ALDOT plans to resurface a portion of SR-14 in Hale County from near Holbrook Place to the SR-61 intersection in Greensboro.

The 4.7-mile project is expected to begin Tuesday, Oct. 13, and will continue until the end of the year, weather permitting.

The project also includes a road diet on SR-14 from Main Street to Tuscaloosa Street. The roadway will be reconfigured from four travel lanes to two travel lanes with a two-way center left turn lane. Road diets are a cost-effective safety strategy for traditional four-lane undivided highways and can reduce crashes by up to 47%, according to the Federal Highway Administration.

Lane closures will not be allowed between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on weekdays when school is in session to reduce the impact on traffic.

🚨 HALE COUNTY 911🚨

πŸŒ§οΈπŸ’¨ PLEASE STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE!

Hale County is expected to experience strong winds overnight into Saturday morning, with gusts possibly reaching 40–50 mph. These winds could cause downed trees, power lines, blocked roadways, and power outages throughout the county.

Hale County 911 strongly encourages everyone to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel during these conditions.

⚠️ PLEASE REMEMBER:

- Stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary.
- Never drive over or around downed trees or power lines.
- Be especially cautious of debris and other hazards on roadways.
- WATCH FOR FIRST RESPONDERS! Law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and utility crews may be working throughout the night clearing roadways and responding to emergencies. Slow down, move over when safe, and give them room to work.
- Keep your phones charged and have flashlights available.

πŸ“ž Call 911 for emergencies only. If you cannot safely speak, remember you can TEXT 911.

Our dispatchers will be here throughout the night, answering your calls and coordinating emergency response when needed.

Please don't put yourself or our first responders in unnecessary danger. A trip that can wait until morning is not worth someone's life.

Stay weather aware, look out for your neighbors, and help us keep Hale County safe.

It is never too early to teach children about the importance of 911.

Cherie and Nikki spent the morning with the kindergarteners at Southern Academy to discuss the role of community helpers.

They explained what constitutes a genuine emergency and when it is appropriate to call 911.

The children learned how our dispatchers are preparing for the upcoming weekend weather, and they even participated in a practice 911 call.

If your school would like to arrange a visit from our dispatch crew, please contact Cherie at 334-624-9911. Our dispatchers would welcome the opportunity to visit all of the schools in Hale County.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ WE WILL NEVER FORGET β€” SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage shown on one of our nation’s darkest days.

We remember the innocent lives taken far too soon.
We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to help others.
We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.

And as a 911 center, we especially remember the public safety dispatchers who were behind the headsets that morning β€” answering desperate calls, sending help, coordinating responders, and remaining a calm voice during unimaginable chaos. Their service is an important part of the story of September 11, and we honor them alongside every first responder who answered the call.

Twenty-five years later, their courage, sacrifice, and service have not been forgotten.

From all of us at Hale County 911, we honor their memory today and always.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ September 11, 2001 β€” Never Forget.
